Lindgren Booming

Erick Lindgren
Erick Lindgren

Erick Lindgren has had a great run this afternoon, seeing his stack increase to almost six figures. We recently watched Lindgren call a raise to 3,500 out of the small blind, with his opponent in middle position. On the {5-Spades}{k-Spades}{9-Clubs} flop, Lindgren fired out a bet of 4,500 and his opponent instantly called. When the {8-Hearts} hit the turn, Lindgren bet 17,500 and this time his opponent thought long and hard. Eventually the player opted to let his hand go and Lindgren raked in some new chips.

Lindgren has had some success in this form of poker in the past, final tabling a $5,000 buy-in pot-limit omaha hi-low event in 2004. He will be looking to do even better today and so far, so good.

Alioto Stays Alive

Dario Alioto
Dario Alioto

Action folded to Dario Alioto in middle position and he raised to 3,200. The button made the call, as did Erick Lindgren in the big blind, and it was three-way action to the {K-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{7-Spades} flop.

After Lindgren checked, Alioto bet 9,000 only to have the button raise the pot. Lindgren quickly got out of the way and Alioto instantly called off his stack.

Showdown
Alioto: {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}{3-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}
Button: {2-Spades}{3-Spades}{4-Spades}{6-Diamonds}

Alioto held top two pair, but his opponent held both low and flush draws. The {5-Diamonds} turn gave the button the low, and also provided him with a plethora of outs to scoop the pot. Unfortunately for him, and much to Alioto's delight, the {A-Hearts} peeled off on the river for a chopped pot.

"How do I miss that river?" the button said lightheartedly.

Campbell Silences the Mouth

Mike Matusow
Mike Matusow

We noticed things were a little quieter here in the Tan Section of the Amazon Room, which prompted us to do a quick look for Mike "The Mouth" Matusow. Unfortunately we discovered that he had been eliminated. We checked in with Mark Gregorich, who was seated at Matusow's former table, and he was kind enough to fill us in on some of the details.

According to him, Matusow was extremely short stacked and committed with {A-}{K-}{10-}{2-} and was called by the {3-}{6-}{K-}{8-} of Robert Campbell in the big blind.

The {Q-}{J-}{5-} flop gave Matusow a ton of outs, but the {6-} turn gave Campell the lead with a pair of sixes. Much to Matusow's angst, the river paired and Campbell's sixes held to eliminate "The Mouth."

"The only write up I'll get is donkey calling a short stack," Campbell laughed when he heard Gregorich telling the story.

Here Comes Su

Stephen Su
Stephen Su

We just happened upon Table 359 and discovered Stephen Su sitting with a mountain of chips and getting involved in a big pot. In the hand, a short-stacked player got all in for around 18,000 preflop and Su called.

Showdown
Su: {A-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}
Opponent: {A-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{3-Clubs}{K-Hearts}

The board ran out {4-Spades}{J-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} and Su laid claim to three-quarters of the pot, bringing his stack up to 154,000!

Back for Another Two

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 0 ante

The players are back in their seats and ready to play two more levels before heading on a dinner break. We are still around 30 players from the bubble, but we can expect to get very close to the money in the lead up to dinner.
