Former Main Event Champ in Tan, Baby

Scotty Nguyen has just taken his seat over in the Tan Section. The 1998 Main Event champion's lone cash at this year's World Series of Poker comes from Event 24: $5,000 Omaha Hi-Low Split 8-or-Better where Nguyen placed second. First place was the only thing on Nguyen's mind, but alas he came up short. Today Nguyen has the chance to make up for the loss, by making a deep run here in the Main Event. We will make sure to keep an eye on the ever entertaining Nguyen as he competes for another Main Event victory.

A few tables away sits Richard Toth. The Hungarian poker pro happened to be playing a hand and here is what happened. The table folded around to Toth in the hijack and he raised it up to 450. The cutoff made the call and the rest of the table folded.

The dealer spread a {8-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} flop, it was here that Toth continued for 550. The cutoff called rather quickly and both players were off to the turn.

The {2-Clubs} landed on fourth street and we had a repeat of action with Toth betting out, this time 1,100 and the cutoff quickly calling. The {Q-Clubs} on the river wasn't going to slow down Toth who bet out 2,600. The cutoff then took a few seconds to ponder before throwing out a call.

Toth flipped over {j-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for the straight and the cutoff sat in mild disgust as he threw his cards into the muck.
