Perusing through the Orange section of the Amazon room we saw Randy Lew sitting well above starting stack early. Sure enough, Lew took to his Twitter to explain the hand that earn him his chips:

Terrence Chan is coming into the World Series of Poker Main Event with nine cashes already on his resume this summer. He is also coming into the day recovering from a concussion cause by his exploits in the mixed martial arts world. This is what he tweeted last night.
tchanpoker Terrence Chanconcussion update: had a much better day, still trouble with focus, bright lights and noises, but good enough to register for 1C tomorrow.July 08 2012
Despite his sore head, Chan looks comfortable at the table as we just watched him rake in a small pot. The action started with the hijack player opening the pot up to 225. The player on the button made the call and so too did Chan in the big blind. On the flop, Chan checked and the hijack bet 375. Both the button and Chan made the call and it was on to the turn. Chan opted to lead here, flicking out a bet of 950. Both his opponents folded and Chan raked in the pot.
Despite managing to ship this small hand early, Chan will have his work cut out for himself today, sitting on the right of Joe Tehan and with Andy Frankenberger a couple of spots to his left.

Here is a few counts from around the Orange Section in the Amazon room. It appears we have lost Fatima Moreira De Melo, her seat is empty and she just recently tweeted.

We noticed Oliver Busquet was missing from his seat, which had nothing but green felt in front of it. According to his Twitter feed, he has indeed been eliminated early.

Tony Hachem, the brother of 2005 World Series of Poker Main Event winner Joe Hachem, made a deep run in last year's Main Event, ultimately finishing in 37th place for $196,174. Unfortunately for him, he won't repeat that success this year as he's become a pre-dinner casualty here on Day 1c.
Hash72 Tony HachemI'm out of this years main but want to wish all my friends who are still in @warne888 @IJasonAlexander @KevinODonnell15 @noahjschwartzJuly 09 2012
Hash72 Tony HachemYes the game can be cruel. I felt I played really well & got terribly unlucky. Not much I can do but keep punching.July 09 2012
