Racener's Revenge

John Racener
John Racener

John Racener and Steven Simpson, who did some battling earlier, were heads up with the board reading {10-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{7-Spades}. Simpson check-called a 2,500-chip bet, and the turn was the {k-Spades}.

Simpson checked, Racener fired 4,400, and Simpson called.

The {a-Hearts} completed the board, and Simpson checked again. Racener fired a third bullet worth 7,000, and Simpson quickly called. Racener tabled {a-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} for a pair of aces, and Simpson showed {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs} for a pair of kings.

Racener's back to 40,000 chips.

Kumar Climbing

Sumit Kumar and his opponent together had built a pot of about 13,000 when the flop came {K-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}. Kumar's opponent, playing from the small blind, led with a bet of 5,500, and Kumar called from the cutoff. The turn was the {5-Spades} and again the small blind was betting, this time 8,800. Kumar called once more.

The river was the {4-Diamonds} and this time Kumar's opponent checked. Kumar responded with a bet of 15,000, and the small blind called. Kumar tabled {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}, and his opponent mucked.

Mizrachi Big Blindsided

Event 45: $50,000 Poker Players Championship winner Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi watched the player to his left limp from the button, then he raised to 5,400 from the small blind. That's when the big blind woke up with an all-in shove for 32,800, forcing the button to skedaddle. Mizrachi thought a bit, then called.

Mizrachi turned over {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}, but needed help versus his opponent's {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}. The board ran out {3-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{3-Spades}{5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}, and Mizrachi had lost nearly half his stack.

Cloutier Runs into Rockets

Eric Cloutier opened for 2,500 from the button and was three-bet to 5,000 by Brett Sample in the big blind. Cloutier tossed in a call to see a flop, which came {3-Spades}{6-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}.

Sample quickly flung three orange 5,000-denomination chips into the middle for a 15,000 bet. Cloutier thought a bit and called.

The turn brought the {9-Hearts} and Sample immediately moved all in for his last 29,500 - sending Cloutier deep into the tank.

After about a minute, Cloutier asked, "You want a call?"

"I'll take it down now," Sample replied.

Cloutier announced, "Fold," after a bit more deliberation and Sample tabled {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs} for pocket aces.

Cloutier is down to 67,000.

Eoghan O'Doubles Opponent

A player raised in early position, 2011 November Niner Eoghan O'Dea three-bet to 6,800, and his opponent four-bet jammed for 26,800. O'Dea tanked for the better part of a minute, then called.

Opponent{q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
O'Dea{A-Spades}{Q-Spades}

The board ran out {3-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{7-Hearts}, and O'Dea dipped to 95,000 chips.

One to the Dane

Gus Hansen
Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen has recently moved into the Brasilia Room and we there to see him rake in a small pot. The hand started with the under-the-gun player opening up the pot with a min-raise. Hansen called from the button and the blinds got out of way.

Both players checked the {7-Spades}{q-Hearts}{10-Spades} flop and it was on to the {9-Diamonds} turn. Hansen's opponent led for 2,200 here and Hansen instantly, and nonchalantly, flicked out a call. On the {3-Clubs} river, another check would see Hansen bet again, this time barely paying attention to the table when he bet 6,600. Hansen's opponent opted to fold and the pot was sent to "The Great Dane".
