Baumann Doubles Through Balkin

Gaelle Baumann Stacking Her New Chips
Gaelle Baumann Stacking Her New Chips

David Balkin raised to 225,000 from middle position and was called by Gaelle Baumann from the cutoff and Erik Hellman from the big blind. The flop came down {A-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{9-Hearts} and Hellman checked. Balkin fired 425,000 and Baumann called. Hellman got out of the way and the two were heads up to the turn.

The dealer flipped up a {7-Hearts} on the turn and Balkin pushed 1,000,000 into the middle. Baumann tanked before calling. The {4-Hearts} rivered and Balkin moved all in. Baumann snap called and Balkin turned up {10-}{10-} for a set of tens.

Baumann showed {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts} and Balkin started celebrating, thinking Baumann merely had a pair of aces, not realizing that she had the nut flush. Baumann was able to scoop the pot, however, and she's now sitting atop 4,250,000 in chips while Balkin has been crippled to around 1,100,000.

The three players took a flop of {Q-Spades}{7-Spades}{3-Clubs}. Filippi and Volpe checked before Koroknai bet 265,000. Both his opponents folded and Koroknai won the pot.

Strelitz Sneaks Into the Chip Lead

Russell Thomas raised to 210,000 from the cutoff and Daniel Strelitz defended from the big blind. Both players checked the {7-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{4-Hearts} flop, and then Russell called a bet of 315,000 from Strelitz on the {K-Diamonds} turn.

When the {A-Clubs} was put out on the river, Strelitz led out for 865,000. Thomas thought for a bit before making the call, but mucked when Strelitz rolled over {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} for two pair.
