Juanda and Marchese Exchange Chips

When we arrived at Table 428, John Juanda and Tom Marchese were deeply involved in a hand. At this point there was a flop showing {a-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{9-Clubs} and it was on Marchese to act. He opted to check and sent the play to Juanda. A carefully cut out bet of 6,200 was slid forward and Marchese thought hard before making the call.

A {q-Hearts} was dealt on the turn and Marchese again opted to check. Juanda then cut down his stack several time before deciding on the perfect amount - 14,800. Marchese immediately flicked his cards into the muck and Juanda took down the pot.

Juanda on a Roll

John Juanda has been on quite a hot-streak as of late.

In a recent hand, Juanda opened to 4,600 from middle position and found one caller from the player in the hijack position. The blinds folded and it was heads up to the flop.

Flop: {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}

Juanda checked and his opponent checked behind to see a turn, which brought the {3-Clubs}. This time, Juanda led out for 5,400 and got a call from his opponent.

The river fell the {5-Spades}. Undeterred, Juanda fired once again - this time for 10,500. His opponent quickly called and Juanda flipped over {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades}, which was good as his opponent mucked without showing.

Juanda is up to 150,000.

Benyamine Goes for KO; Settles for a Chop

A player in early position open-raised all in for his last 26,000 and action folded around to David Benyamine on the button, who called. The blinds folded and hands were revealed.

Benyamine: {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts}
Opponent: {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}

Benyamine was in great shape to knock out his opponent, however, the flop came {9-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{6-Spades}, propelling his opponent into the lead with a set of nines. The turn came a {10-Diamonds}, which was no help to Benyamine, however, a {8-Clubs} river meant that both players played the straight on board. It was a chop pot.

"That's fair, that's fair," Benyamine playfully remarked.

Benymaine is sitting on 75,000 at the moment.

Juanda Crushing Souls

John Juanda is currently stacking up plenty more chips to add to his stack. He is quite easily the chip leader in the room right now. A large portion of his chips came when Tom Marchese stacked off holding {a-}{q-} against Juanda's {a-}{k-}.

Could this event be Juanda's 6th WSOP bracelet? It's early days, but he is on the right track.

Idema Cruising Through

We haven't been able to catch Daniel Idema in a hand today, despite the fact that every time we walk past his table his chip stack has grown larger. His stack is currently one of the biggest in the field and we can only assume that he has slowly been chipping away at his table. Readers may remember Daniel Idema from when he was the final table bubble boy at the 2012 Aussie Millions Main Event just a few months ago. Don't forget that Idema also took down the WSOP bracelet in the $10,000 Limit Holdem Championship last year. Clearly he has some skills and so he is definitely one to watch here in Event 9.

Juanda Losing Steam?

We know there have been quite a few John Juanda posts already - but he keeps getting involved in huge pots.

Here's another that did not go in Juanda's favor, for a change.

On a flop reading {J-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}, Juanda led out from the small blind for 20,700. His lone opponent shoved all in from middle position for nearly 90,000 and Juanda quickly called.

Juanda: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades} for top set.
Opponent: {9-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for a flopped straight.

Juanda was behind and would need the board to pair to make a full-house or quads if he were to win the pot.

The {5-Hearts} turn and {7-Clubs} river bricked for Juanda and he was knocked back down to 140,000.
