Kelly Keeps Stacking

Level 14 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

We caught up with the action with Steven Kelly heads up out of position on a {k-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} flop. Kelly fired out 16,500 and he was called. The turn brought the {k-Hearts}, and both players checked to see the {j-Spades} come down on the river. Kelly put the pressure on his opponent with a bet of 46,000. The player spent about three minutes in the tank before someone else at the table called the clock, and he ended up folding with one second left on the countdown.

After scooping that pot, Kelly is now up to 308,000.

Meinders Doubles

Level 14 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Brian Meinders
Brian Meinders

Brian Meinders was on the turn with his opponent and the board read {7-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{a-Hearts} He held {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}. He decided to push all 27,000 of his remaining chips in and his opponent looked him up. His opponent revealed {k-Clubs}{q-Hearts}. His opponent would need to catch another king to knock out Mienders.

The river came the {10-Clubs} and Meinders doubled. He now sits with 73,400

Charette Still In

Level 14 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Simon Charette won the $3,000 Six-Max Event last year, and since there was no $2,500 version of this event last year, some consider him to be the "defending champion." Well Charette has continued to fly under the radar, as we just spotted him for the first time today a short while ago. He is grinding a short to medium stack with about 40,000.

Randall With Worse Pair

Level 14 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

In the hand David Randall was in the button and Steven Kelly was in the small blind. The two took a flop of {7-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{6-Spades}. Kelly bet out 7,500 and Randall called. The turn brought the {9-Diamonds} and kelly bet out 23,000. Randall called again. The river came the {9-Spades} and this time Kelly bet out 42,000.

This put Randall into the tank. He tanked so long that he got the clock called on himself.
After much deliberation Randall decided to call.

Kelly flipped over {k-Spades}{q-Diamonds} for a pair of queens. Randall went to much his cards but they accidentally flipped over and revealed his {8-Spades}{6-Clubs}.

Ostrander's Queens Hold

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Greg Ostrander and another opponent got in a raising war that saw all the chips go in preflop. Ostrander's {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} were dominating the {j-Hearts}{j-Spades} of his opponent, and the board ran down ten high, coming {10-Hearts}{2-Spades}{4-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}.

After scoring that knockout, Ostrander has worked his stack up to 174,000.

Busto

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

The payouts are now updated through 77th place.

The Biggest Stacks in the Room

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

These players are on the tops of the counts and they pose a threat for the remaining short stacks that reside in the tournament.

Tran Taken Down

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
JC Tran-Busto
JC Tran-Busto

JC Tran raised it up to 2,500 in middle position, and Roman Valerstein called from the button, as did the big blind. The flop came down {9-Clubs}{4-Spades}{3-Spades}, and it was checked to Tran, who c-bet to 8,000. Only Valerstein called, and the turn brought the {k-Spades}. Tran moved all in, and Valerstein quickly called.

Valerstein: {q-Spades}{9-Spades}
Tran: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}

The turn was certainly an action card, as it gave Valerstein the second nut flush, and Tran the nut flush draw. Tran would need a spade to survive, but the {9-Hearts} came on the river, ending the pro's day early.
