Event #19: $5,000 Pot-Limit Hold'em
Day 3 Started
Good afternoon and welcome back to the 44th annual World Series of Poker. Only 16 players remain in Event #19: $5,000 Pot-Limit Hold'em, and your leader is Jesse Martin. Martin has yet to capture his first WSOP gold bracelet, but has a plethora of cashes and a few final table appearances, and enters the day as the only player with more than 400,000 chips.
Standing in his way are a host of notable players, however, including Eugene Katchalov, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, John Hennigan, Dan Kelly, Davidi Kitai, Dimitar Danchev, Matt Marafioti, and Mark Herm. Kelly may be having the sickest summer thus far - it's either him or David "Bakes" Baker - and this is his fourth Day 3 appearance in 2013. If he is fortunate enough to make the official final table of nine, it would be his third in less than two weeks.
Also among the 16 survivors - and sitting third in chips - is Kristina Holst. If she wins, Holst would become only the seventh female to win an open event at the WSOP, joining the likes of Cyndy Violette, Kathy Liebert, Annie Duke, Katja Thater, Annette Obrestad, and Vanessa Selbst (2). Holst received a massive double at the end of Day 2 through Danchev, and will be looking to run it up on Day 3.
The cards will be in the air at 2 p.m. local time. We hope to see you then!
Level: 18
Blinds: 3,000/6,000

Eugene Katchalov raised to 12,000 in early position, Mark Herm three-bet to 28,000 out of the small blind, and Katchalov re-raised the pot, making it 90,000. Herm asked to see the rest of Katchalov's stack - it was 32,000 more - and Herm moved all in. Katchalov quickly called.
Katchalov:
Herm:
The dealer fanned , giving Katchalov a set, and Herm needed a king or running diamonds to score the knockout. The bricked on the turn, and so too did the on the river, and Katchalov doubled to 246,000 chips.
"Comfort zone," someone on the rail said to Herm, referring to his 20-big blind stack. "Comfort zone."
"Comfort zone?" Herm responded. "I still have Todd."
For some reason, Herm and some of his good friends took Todd Heap, the former tight end of the Baltimore Ravens, and use his first name to refer to their stack when they have "heaps." We'll update you on any more lingo information comes along.

Eugene Katchalov | 246,000 | 124,500 |
Mark Herm | 121,000 | -115,000 |
Cary Katz raised it from a middle position on a very short stack, and Matt Marafioti, in the big blind, got it all in with him preflop.
Marafioti:
Katz:
The board ran out , leaving Marafioti with only 28,000.
A few hands later, action folded to Marafioti in the cutoff, and he raised pot. Bertrand Grospellier reraised from the button, and the blinds got out of the way. Marafioti called off his last 4,000 and turned over . Grospellier's had him dominated however, and a board of did nothing for Marafioti.

Vandersmissen:
Grospellier:
The flop gave Grospellier a commanding lead, and the hand was suddenly over when the turned to give the Frenchman kings full of deuces. A meaningless completed the board, and Grospellier doubled to 234,000 chips.
Vandersmissen slipped to 130,000.

Bertrand Grospellier | 234,000 | 128,000 |
Kevin Vandersmissen | 130,000 | -104,000 |
John Hennigan raised it up from middle position, and Steven Kelly called from the big blind. The flop came , and Kelly led out for pot, which put Hennigan nearly all in. He put everything in the middle, and tabled for a pair of eights and a flush draw against Kelly's for overs and a higher flush draw. Kelly bricked out with and , doubling Hennigan up.
Two hands later, action folded to Kelly on the button, and he minraised. Dario Minieri potted to 42,000 from the small blind, and Dan Kelly repotted from the big blind. Steven immediately pushed all in, and Minieri folded. Dan called to put Steven all in.
Dan:
Steven:
The flop came , increasing Dan's outs by a little. The turn was a , increasing his outs by a lot as he picked up a flush draw. A river completed neither of his draws however, and Steven went from doubler to doublee.
