DeMaci Jumps to Six Figures

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Chris DeMaci opened to 3,300 from the cutoff, Vanessa Selbst called on the button, and Art Alaniz squeezed, moving all in for 7,300 out of the small blind. DeMaci re-shoved, making it 68,700, and Selbst tank-called.

DeMaci: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Selbst: {a-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}
Alaniz: {k-Spades}{6-Spades}

DeMaci had both players crushed, and held when the board came {2-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{k-Clubs}. DeMaci now sits with 137,400, Selbst with 36,500, and Alaniz is out.

Katz Busts Jones

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Brian Rast opened up the action on table 403 to 3,200 from the under-the-gun plus one position. Cary Katz put in the 3-bet from the small blind, making it a cool 10,000. In the big blind Aaron Jones had a decision and eventually he decided to put all of his chips in the middle. For how much that was exactly we're not sure, as Rast folded instantly and Katz called just as quick.

Katz showed his {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds} and had about seventy percent equity against Jones' {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}. This was not going to be one of those 3 in 10 times that the ace-king would win as all the aces and other helpful cards stayed in the deck: {J-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{9-Spades} | {3-Spades} | {6-Clubs}.

Chang Doubles

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

After a series of preflop bets, Kai Chang was all in and at risk for 50,900 holding {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}. He had Andy Seth, who tabled {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds} dominated, but Seth took the lead when the dealer fanned {2-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{q-Clubs}. The {10-Clubs} on the turn was a brick, but the {j-Hearts} spiked on the river, giving Chang Broadway.

Chang doubled to 101,800, while Seth with left with just a few thousand chips, but has since recuperated and sits with 30,000.

Baumstein Loses Another Big One

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Scott Baumstein started the day second in chips but is one of the shorter stacks right now with just 50,000 in chips. Kristijonas Andrulis was again involved in the hand, though in a minor role this time. The Lithuanian opened the hijack to 3,400 after which Baumstein raised it up to 9,700 from the button. The player in the small blind made the call and Andrulis folded.

{6-Spades}{9-Clubs}{2-Spades} on the flop and the small blind pushed his 28,200 stack to the middle. Baumstein had a tough decision and took his time. He took so long that someone on the table called the clock. Baumstein eventually made the call and showed his {A-Spades}{K-Clubs} first. He was up against {J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} and did not improve: {4-Clubs} on the turn and {5-Diamonds} on the river.

Vanessa Selbst Doubles Through Art Alaniz

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Picking up the action after the turn of a {A-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{8-Spades} board with roughly 46,000 in the pot, Vanessa Selbst (on the button) is in the tank facing a decision for her remaining 35,400 after Art Alaniz (in the small blind) shoved with a covering stack.

After a little while in the tank, Selbst called and tabled {A-Clubs}{6-Clubs}. Alaniz turned over {10-Clubs}{10-Spades} and Selbst doubled after the {K-Diamonds} river.

"I Got It In Good"

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Justin Schwartz
Justin Schwartz

Justin Schwartz was allin preflop with {J-Clubs}{J-Hearts} against Darryll Fish his {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}. The pot wasn't all to big with just about 10,000 in the middle but it was Schwartz life on the line. Schwartz had lost the rest of his stack before this hand it appeared, and was making jokes during this allin. "I got it in good" he laughed, making sure we would write that down. Never before had we seen such a jinx as the words hadn't even left his mouth before the river destroyed his hopes for a clean double-up: {3-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} | {3-Clubs} | {8-Spades}. Although he just busted, Justin was very amicable about it and with still a big smile on his face he left the table.

"I feel a little bit bad about it" Fish told Kyle Julius, before downgrading that nice comment with a big laugh "Just a little bit!" Someone else at the table told Fish that he had just hit a one outer since he folded an eight and that was that, on to the next hand.

Straight Over Straight

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Scott Baumstein on the wrong end of a cooler
Scott Baumstein on the wrong end of a cooler

When we reached the table, Scott Baumstein had 4,800 sitting in front of him on a board of {8-Spades}{2-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{5-Spades}. Kristijonas Andrulis raised to what looked like 20,000 or so, Baumstein announced all in, doubling-fisting two stacks forward, and Andrulis snap-called the 85,900-chip bet.

"Wow," someone said at the table. "This is a big one."

Baumstein quickly turned over {6-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} for a turned straight, and half a heartbeat lader Andrulis showed {9-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} for the stone-cold nuts.

The {a-Spades} bricked off on the river, and Andrulis was shipped the massive pot. Baumstein needed a second to collect his thoughts, and promptly stepped away from the table.
