Welcome to our coverage of Day 2 of Event #25: $5,000 Omaha Hi-Low 8-or-Better. The starting field of 241 entrants is down to 152, each looking to capture the $277,519 first-place prize.

Leading the way with 77,100 is Hal Klein. He is followed by Luis Velador (59,100), Pat Pezzin (58,400), Francesco "Cheech" Barbaro (52,000), and Brian Hastings (50,600) as the only players above the 50,000 mark. Last year's champion Joe Cassidy is also still in the mix with 38,000. Cassidy was a late arrival yesterday, taking his seat following the dinner break. Before long, he found himself on a short stack with only a few big bets remaining. However, Cassidy rode a nice heater to close the day with a top-30 stack.

Play resumes at 2pm local time, about 10 minutes from now, and is scheduled to commence until 10 levels are completed. The final 27 players make the money and we should reach that point before Day 2 reaches its end. Keep it here throughout the day as we move closer to crowning another World Series of Poker champion!

David "Bakes" Baker vs. Perry Friedman

Level 9

Tom Koral, David "Bakes" Baker, and Perry Friedman were three-handed to a flop of {A-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}. Friedman checked from the big blind and Baker bet from late position. Koral folded from the next seat over and Friedman called to see the {6-Hearts} turn.

Another check-call from Friedman landed the {10-Clubs} river which both checked.

Friedman tabled {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{6-Spades}{2-Hearts} for dueces full of sixes, besting Baker's holdings to win the pot.

Small One For Turner

Level 9

Picking up with the action on the turn, the board read {3-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} and Jon Turner fired out a bet. Robert Mizrachi called and the {J-Clubs} completed the board on the river.

Turner cut out one final bet and Mizrachi sat thinking for a moment. Eventually he opted to lay it down and Turner picked up the pot. He's now sitting on about 15,000 while Mizrachi has fallen toa round 26,500.

Matusow with the Scoop

Level 9

We caught up with three players looking down at a flop that read {2-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{7-Spades}. The first player checked over to Justin Smith who fired out a bet. Mike Matusow raised the action and the first player folded.

Smith and Matusow were heads up to the turn which brought the {8-Hearts}. Smith checked and Matusow continued with a bet. Smith called and the {Q-Diamonds} hit the river. Smith check-called one last bet and Matusow tabled his hand of {7-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} for a flopped full house of sevens full of deuces and an eighty-seven low. Matusow is now sitting on about 45,000 in chips.
