Robert Cheung Chopped

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Bracelet winner Robert Cheung was kind enough to let us know that he had been eliminated just before the previous break.

Apparently, after losing 100,000 in an earlier confrontation, Cheung ran his {9-}{9-} into an opponent's {A-}{A-}. His underpair failed to catch up, and Cheung will have to wait another day to win that elusive second WSOP bracelet.

William Misener Says Presto

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

With his stack sitting around 11 big blinds, William Misener knew it was time make a move with the first decent hand he ran into. When he looked down to find {5-Spades}{5-Diamonds}, the pocket pair was all the motivation he needed to move his stack into the middle.

He was quickly called by an opponent, however, and the sign of strength let Misener know he was likely behind.

"You probably got me, but..." said Misener, his voice trailing off as he saw the caller roll over {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}. "Aces again? I'ts always those dang aces."

The dealer then burned and turned, and wouldn't you know it, the first card on the flop was the {5-Clubs}. The {6-Diamonds} and {7-Hearts} filled out the flop, and although there were chop possibilities when the {3-Clubs} came down on the turn, the {K-Hearts} on the river left Misener with the winning hand.

Kroon Staying Active

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

A player from under the gun raised to 24,000 and Alex Kunichoff, in middle position, and Mark Kroon, the big blind, both called.

The flop came {7-Clubs}{2-Spades}{j-Hearts} and all three players checked.

Kroon led on the {j-Spades} turn for 23,000. The initial raiser folded and Kunichoff called.

Kroon bet 34,000 on the {5-Clubs} river and Kunichoff folded. As Kroon showed {7-}{7-}, he let everyone know "that is how you do it".

Top Full House Doesn't Faze Gary Margolis

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Poker can be a cruel game, a fact which we were just reminded of courtesy of Gary Margolis. After a player opened for 26,000, Margolis elected to make his stand, moving all in for his last 90,000 or so chips. The raiser quickly called and announced "I have a pair," while tabling the {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}.

"Your pair's bigger than my pair," replied Margolis, referencing his inferior {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts}.

Flop: {7-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{5-Spades}

The first card off was a dagger through the heart of the player with the overpair, and before he could even calculate his slim odds of finding a third jack to catch up, the {7-Spades} rained down on the turn to officially end his tournament.

Then, with no regard for the mental anguish this would case, the deck decided to deliver the {J-Hearts} on the river, giving the freshly broken player something to think about for a long time to come.
