Sands Doubles Short Stack

Level 4 : 100/200, 0 ante

David "Doc" Sands felt he had a difficult decision preflop as he held {q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} and had to decide if he wanted to call his short stacked opponents all in. After much deliberation Sands called and his opponent showed {a-Hearts}{9-Spades}.

The board ran out {2-Clubs}{8-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{3-Spades} and Sands doubled up his opponent. Sands will survive with 15,500.

Negreanu Gives Up To Moorman

Level 4 : 100/200, 0 ante
Chris Moorman
Chris Moorman

Daniel Negreanu opened the pot to 400 from middle position. He was called by the player in the hijack seat. Chris Moorman decided to reraise to 1,250 from the button and he was only called by Negreanu.

On the {A-Spades}{4-Clubs}{8-Clubs} flop, Negreanu checked to Moorman who bet out 1,500. Negreanu called.

The turn was the {9-Hearts} and this time Negreanu check called a 2,500 chip bet from Moorman.

The {4-Spades} came on the river and Negreanu checked for a third time. Moorman moved all in and Negreanu snap folded.

Someone at the table informed Moorman that he could show, and he obliged by showing the {10-Clubs}.

"That had me beat," Negreanu said. "I was drawing to a straight flush.

Moorman moved over 20,000 chips after that hand.

Watson Busts Le; Among Leaders

Level 4 : 100/200, 0 ante

When we reached the table, Nam Le was all in and at risk for an unknown amount on a board of {8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{j-Spades}{7-Hearts}. He turned over {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}, and was drawing very slim against Cylus Watson, who showed {5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for a turned straight.

The {3-Hearts} completed the board, and Le was eliminated.

Watson, who finished 22nd in the 2012 WSOP Main Event, raked in the massive pot, and is now up to 60,000 chips.

No Mustache Rides For Baumstein

Level 4 : 100/200, 0 ante
Scott Baumstein in an earlier event.
Scott Baumstein in an earlier event.

Justin Young was sporting a full beard at the start of the 2013 World Series of Poker, but now he's down to just a mustache. He's also down quite a few chips now to Scott Baumstein.

Young opened the pot from the hijack seat to 450 chips. He was called by the player in the cutoff and Baumstein in the small blind.

The dealer put out the flop of {7-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} and Baumstein checked to Young who bet 550. The cutoff player folded but Baumstein called.

The turn was the {8-Clubs} and Baumstein led out for 850 chips. Young thought about it for a moment but then called.

The river was the {2-Spades} and Baumstein led again, this time for 3,375. Young went into the tank for a few minutes before he let go his hand.

Young let go of some chips in that hand but he's still over starting stack with plenty of chips to work with.

Wheeler Tames the Dragon

Level 4 : 100/200, 0 ante

David "The Dragon" Pham three-bet shoved over an open from Jason Wheeler, and the action folded back to Wheeler, who called.

Pham: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}
Wheeler: {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}

The dealer fanned {4-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}, giving Pham a pair of aces, but Wheeler improved to a set of tens. Pham was drawing dead when the {2-Diamonds} turned, and just for kicks and giggles the {a-Spades} completed the board. Pham hit the rail, while Wheeler is up to 18,000 chips.

Raskin Hits Flush and Gets Value

Level 4 : 100/200, 0 ante

On a board of {3-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{q-Spades}{j-Clubs} Micah Raskin bet out 800. Ryan Olisar was his opponent and he made the call. The river was the {3-Spades}. Raskin bet 1,600 and Olisar did not instantly call. But eventually he thought the price was good and made the call. Olisar had to muck though when Raskin showed the winning flush {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}.

With that pot Raskin went up to 9,500.

Rosen Crippled, Then Doubles

Level 4 : 100/200, 0 ante

Jamie Rosen, who recently had a deep run in Event #21: $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em (Six Handed), opened the pot from middle position by raising to 500. Tommy Vedes in the next seat over raised to 1,275. Action folded back around to Rosen who made the call.

The flop came down {10-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} and Rosen checked to Vedes who made a bet. Rosen quickly moved all in and Vedes called without thinking about it for too long.

Rosen: {J-Hearts}{8-Hearts}
Vedes: {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}

Rosen had flopped huge on Vedes and could catch almost half the deck to stay alive, but the turn {3-Spades} and river {10-Diamonds} were not the cards Rosen wanted to see.

Rosen was crippled on that hand but managed to double up on the very next hand with {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} against the small blinds {A-Spades}{4-Diamonds}
