Menlo Doubles Through Zaichenko

Level 4 : 100/200, 0 ante

Isaac "mr. menlo" Baron was all in for his first lammer with {7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{3-Clubs} on a flop of {9-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}. Russian Andrey Zaichenko had him at risk with {a-Spades}{8-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{5-Spades}, and Baron's two pair held up as the turn and river bricked {j-Diamonds}, {9-Hearts} respectively.

Baron doubled to 6,075 (with two lammers behind), while Zaichenko cashed in one of his lammers and now has 6,500 total.

A Few of Doomy Tables

Level 4 : 100/200, 0 ante

Every tournament we have every covered ends up with a table, or two, that we refer to as the Table of Doom. There are a number of tables that we could give this moniker to.

One table is the home to recent WSOP bracelet winner Taylor Paur, Mike Leah, and Brian Roberts, while another has Brian Rast, Giuseppe Pantaleo and Justin Bonomo on it. Each of the 66 tables seems to have an established pro on it and it is only a matter of time before we get a legitimate Table of Doom, one with five or six names on it. Stay tuned.

Despite Doubling an Opponent, Bleznick is Booming

Level 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

When we arrived at Table 365, Jared "harrington25" Bleznick was calling an opponent's raise out of the small blind. The dealer fanned {j-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{a-Spades}, Bleznick led out for 1,350, and his opponent called. The turn was the {4-Spades}, both players checked, and the {10-Diamonds} completed the board.

Bleznick fired out 4,000, which was enough to put his opponent all in, and the player called for 3,950, showing {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for the nuts. Bleznick mucked, but despite doubling the player, has a very healthy stack of 30,000 chips.

A Brief Battle of Britain

Level 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

There are a number of Brits in this 592-strong field and two of them are seated on the same table.

Richie Allen opened to 250 from the cutoff, Phil Ivey folded on the button, the small blind got out of the way, but Allen's fellow Brit, Christopher Brammer called from his seat in the big blind.

As we watched the dealer spread the {J-Hearts}{A-Spades}{10-Clubs} flop onto the felt, we were preparing for a flurry of action and the splashing of chips. However, that failed to happen and the battle of the Brit was a brief affair. Brammer checked to Allen, Allen made a continuation-bet of 350 and Brammer relinquished his hand.

Panteleo Pays off Rast River Bet

Level 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

The board read {6-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} and the action was heads-up. Contesting the pot were Brian rast in the small blind and Giuseppe Panatleo in the big blind seat. Rast led for 1,700 and Panatleo called

Rast turned over {A-Spades}{6-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} for trip sixes with an ace-king kicker. Pantaleo couldn't beat that and threw his cards into the muck.

Fitoussi in the Field

Bruno Fitoussi at the Poker Players Championship final table
Bruno Fitoussi at the Poker Players Championship final table

French legend Bruno Fitoussi is in the field today, sitting in the Purple Section of the Amazon Room. Apart from earning over $2.6 million in live poker tournaments in his career, including a runner-up finish in the 2007 World Series of Poker $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. Championship, Fitoussi is largely responsible for growing the game in France, particularly at the Aviation Club de France in Paris.

Fitoussi made a return trip to the final table of the WSOP's $50,000 buy-in last year, finishing eighth in the Poker Players Championship, and then finished 35th in the WSOPE Main Event. We'll be certain to keep our eyes on the Frenchman as he tries to navigate his way to yet another WSOP final table.

Poker Legends in the House

Level 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

The Purple section of the room is the current home to two of poker's living legends.

One is Mike Sexton who is currently armed with 14,300 chips. Sexton has one bracelet to his name, over 20 WSOP final table appearances and almost 50 cashes.

The other legend we are talking about is Phil Ivey, who has nine WSOP bracelet and like Sexton has over 20 WSOP final tables and almost 50 cashes on his already impressive resume. Ivey has started this tournament well and although he has no lammers remaining, he does have 16150 chips.
