Nassif Continues to Slide

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante

Gabriel Nassif checked a flop of {6-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and Greg "FBT" Mueller tossed in a bet. Nassif called and then check-called bets on both the {3-Hearts} turn and {J-Clubs} river. Mueller, who has won two gold bracelets in limit hold'em, tabled the {9-Clubs}{9-Spades} and it was good as Nassif sent his cards to the muck unseen.

Courtesy Double for Sjavik

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante

A short-stacked Jan Sjavik raised and action folded to Brian Aleksa in the big blind. He mulled for awhile and it became apparent he wasn't a fan of his hand. Nonetheless, he felt obliged to three-bet so Sjavik could get all in for a mere 19,000.

Sjavik: {a-Clubs}{8-Clubs}
Aleksa: {9-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}

Aleksa perked up a bit when he discovered that he was drawing to live cards, but that enthusiasm faded quickly as the board ran out a dry {6-Spades}{5-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{j-Spades}.

Yu Headed in the Right Direction

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante

Action folded to Ben Yu on the button and he put in a raise, one that Justin Bonomo called from the big blind. The {5-Hearts}{3-Spades}{10-Spades} flop saw Bonomo check, Yu bet and Bonomo spring to life with a check-raise. Yu made the call and then called bets on both the {8-Clubs} turn and {Q-Spades} river.

Bonomo rolled over the {j-Spades}{5-Diamonds} for a pair of fives, but it was no good as Yu had made a pair of eights on the turn with the {A-Clubs}{8-Spades}. With that, Yu is up over the 100,000 mark.

Jeffrey Yass Eliminated in 12th Place ($16,211)

Jeffrey Yass - 12th Place
Jeffrey Yass - 12th Place

It took about 20 minutes for the first elimination of the day, and it was no surprise that it was the short stack to fall. Jeffrey Yass managed a couple of doubles at the start of play, but it proved too little too late for the man from Haverford, Pennsylvania.

His demise came on a {2-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{3-Clubs} flop when Yass bet, Justin Bonomo raised and Yass three-bet. Bonomo made the call and then raised when Yass bet the {8-Hearts} turn. Yass called off his last chips holding the {q-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} for a pair of queens, which was out in front of Bonomo's {j-Clubs}{9-Clubs} flush and straight draws. Unfortunately for Yass, the {A-Clubs} spiked on the river to give Bonomo the flush and the win.

Short Stacks Battle

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante

Action folded to Ben Yu on the button and he raised. Jeffrey Yass defended from the big blind and it was heads-up action to the {4-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{6-Hearts} flop. Yass bet, Yu called and the {5-Spades} turned. Yass bet his last 3,000 and Yu called with the {j-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}. Yass flipped over the {k-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} for a pair of fours and it held when the {9-Hearts} completed the board on the river. Ship another double to Yass.

Yass Knocked Back Down

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante

Jeffrey Yass opened with a raise and then called when Michael Moore three-bet from the button. The {6-Spades}{4-Spades}{6-Clubs} flop saw Yass check-call a bet and then both players checked the {Q-Clubs} turn. Yass proceeded to lead out on the {5-Clubs} river and Moore call. The former player tabled the {a-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for fives and sixes, but it was no good against the latter's {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds} for eights and sixes.

More for Moore

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante

Gabriel Nassif raised under the gun and then called when Michael Moore three-bet from the big blind. The {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{6-Clubs} flop saw Moore bet, Nassif called and the dealer burn and turn the {Q-Hearts}. Moore ended up check-calling a bet and then led out when the {A-Diamonds} peeled off on the river. Nassif tanked for a bit and ultimately folded.
