Juanda Pushes Crane

Level 9 : 300/600, 75 ante

Russell Crane opened the action with a raise from the button to 1,250. Action folded to John Juanda in the big blind and he called to see a flop. The dealer fanned {10-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{5-Hearts} on the felt and Juanda checked. Crane continued out for 1,350 and the five-time WSOP bracelet winner called.

Fourth street was the {5-Diamonds} and Juanda checked again. Crane checked it back and the {5-Clubs} hit the river, putting a third five on the board. Juanda checked and Crane moved 2,500 into the middle. Juanda put out 40,000 which was enough to put Crane all in. In the end, Crane opted to lay it down and Juanda took down the pot. He's now sitting on about 86,000 in chips.

One of time honored traditions here at the World Series of Poker involves amateur players sending their regards to the virtual rail, using the reach of PokerNews' Live Reporting team to provide updates to their families and friends.

After his recent 12th place finish in Event #11 ($2,500 No-Limit Hold'em Six-Handed), Englishman Gary Pearce definitely has reason to send an update or two across the pond, and we're more than happy to help.

Pearce is currently sitting on a stack of 44,500, which is just about average at the moment, but is also more than enough to make a few moves as the field plays its way into the money.

Johnny Makes a World Class Call

Level 8 : 250/500, 50 ante
John Hennigan Just Made an Amazing Call With Just a Pair of Deuces
John Hennigan Just Made an Amazing Call With Just a Pair of Deuces

Facing a bet of 16,000 from Erik Cajelais, and with over 22,000 already at stake in the pot, John "World" Hennigan took more than a minute to ponder his options.

The board read {2-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{9-Spades}{k-Hearts} and Cajelais had led out for a sizable bet of 3/4 the pot. Hennigan studied Cajelais intently while thinking things through, and finally he announced a call.

Cajelais could only turn over his {A-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for a busted flush draw, and he peered across the table to see what he had been called down with.

Hennigan turned over the {2-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} for just a pair of deuces, and with his superhero call, "Johnny World" took down the huge pot with merely a single pair. Although I'm sure after this play, Hennigan would say it took more than just one pair to earn this pot.

Juanda Sends One Packing

Level 8 : 250/500, 50 ante

The flop read {10-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} when we found John Juanda check to his lone opponent. After a bet of 1,800, Juanda called and the dealer put down the {8-Clubs} on fourth street.

Juanda took this chance to lead out for 4,200, causing his opponent to go into the tank.

"All in," said Juanda's opponent after a moment. The bet was for around 15,000.

Juanda quickly announced a call and the hands were tabled to find Juanda in the lead.

Juanda: {10-Diamonds}{8-Spades}
Opponent: {K-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}

Juanda's turned two pair were out in front and stayed that way when the {7-Spades} completed the board. Juanda scooped the pot and eliminated a player, allowing him to boost his stack to around 67,500.

The Good Doctor

Level 8 : 250/500, 50 ante

We saw John Hennigan open for 1,000 on the button, and Dr. Raymond Dandrea three-bet to 2,250. Hennigan flatted to see a flop of {10-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} hit the table.

On the flop, Dandrea led out for 2,500 and Hennigan called, bringing the {q-Hearts} to the table on the turn. Another lead out by Dandrea forced a quick fold from "Johnny World," and Dandrea flung his cards across the table for Hennigan to see: {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}.

"I hate you," he said with a laugh, obviously chagrined to have hit the nuts without getting paid off.

Busquet Finds a Double

Level 8 : 250/500, 50 ante

A short-stacked Olivier Busquet moved all in before the flop for his last 6,375 and was called by the player in the small blind.

Busquet: {A-Diamonds}{7-Spades}
Opponent: {K-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

The board rolled out {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{5-Hearts} and Busquet's pair of aces were enough to secure him a double up. He's now sitting on about 13,200.
