One For Turner

Level 7 : 200/400, 50 ante

The player under the gun opened to 850 and Jon Turner flat called from the button. The blinds folded and the two saw a flop of {10-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}. Turner's opponent checked and Turner fired 950 into the middle. Turner's opponent called and the {2-Spades} hit the turn. It was once again checked to Turner who tossed out 1,850. After another call, the dealer finished off the board with the {K-Diamonds}. The action went check-check and the betting came to an end.

Turner rolled over {8-Hearts}{8-Spades} and his pair of eights was enough to take it down as his opponent mucked his cards. Turner is now sitting around 35,000 in chips.

John Juanda (Seen Here in and Earlier WSOP Event)

With the board reading {9-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{4-Spades}{5-Hearts}{j-Clubs}, and more than 5,000 already in the pot, John Juanda made a bet of 3,250. His opponent shot a look across the table at Juanda, a five-time WSOP bracelet winner, before releasing his hand.

With the win, Juanda moved above 35,000 chips, and he is cruising through this first day of four-handed action.

Ravi Raghavan Hits the Rail

Level 7 : 200/400, 50 ante

Ravi Raghavan, who made waves last winter by winning the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic $10,000 Main Event, has just hit the rail after losing a flip.

Playing from under the gun, Raghavan got his last 20,800 into the middle holding {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs}, and he was racing against the {A-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} tabled by his opponent.

When the final board rolled out {2-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{5-Spades}{q-Spades}{9-Diamonds}, Raghavan's pocket pair had been bested by the overcards, and he was eliminated from the tournament.

You Best Czech Yo' Self

Level 8 : 250/500, 50 ante

We last saw Czech pro Vojtech Ruzicka as he pushed past the 50,000 plateau, and after the last hand, he is nearing the 70,000 mark.

The final board read {a-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and Ruzicka had a bet of 6,200 sitting in front of his stack. His opponent tanked for a while, riffling a stack of chips equal to the wager and studying Ruzicka, before finally looking him up.

Ruzicka quickly tabled his {K-Clubs}{10-Spades}, however, and his opponent could only the knuckle the felt in acknowledgement, saying "nice hand" as he tossed his inferior holding int the muck.

Level 8 : 250/500, 50 ante

A short-stacked Olivier Busquet moved all in before the flop for his last 6,375 and was called by the player in the small blind.

Busquet: {A-Diamonds}{7-Spades}
Opponent: {K-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

The board rolled out {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{5-Hearts} and Busquet's pair of aces were enough to secure him a double up. He's now sitting on about 13,200.

The Good Doctor

Level 8 : 250/500, 50 ante

We saw John Hennigan open for 1,000 on the button, and Dr. Raymond Dandrea three-bet to 2,250. Hennigan flatted to see a flop of {10-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} hit the table.

On the flop, Dandrea led out for 2,500 and Hennigan called, bringing the {q-Hearts} to the table on the turn. Another lead out by Dandrea forced a quick fold from "Johnny World," and Dandrea flung his cards across the table for Hennigan to see: {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}.

"I hate you," he said with a laugh, obviously chagrined to have hit the nuts without getting paid off.

Juanda Sends One Packing

Level 8 : 250/500, 50 ante

The flop read {10-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} when we found John Juanda check to his lone opponent. After a bet of 1,800, Juanda called and the dealer put down the {8-Clubs} on fourth street.

Juanda took this chance to lead out for 4,200, causing his opponent to go into the tank.

"All in," said Juanda's opponent after a moment. The bet was for around 15,000.

Juanda quickly announced a call and the hands were tabled to find Juanda in the lead.

Juanda: {10-Diamonds}{8-Spades}
Opponent: {K-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}

Juanda's turned two pair were out in front and stayed that way when the {7-Spades} completed the board. Juanda scooped the pot and eliminated a player, allowing him to boost his stack to around 67,500.
