Day 1 Finishes Nine from the Money; Hobson & Cada Lead Field
Another day has been written in the books here at the 2013 World Series of Poker. Today, 1,069 total entrants showed up for Event #4: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em (Six Handed) with the hopes of rising above the field to grasp WSOP glory, the gold bracelet, and the $324,764 first-place prize. After ten full levels it was Greg Hobson who held onto the biggest stack in the room with 160,500 in chips. The next player on Hobson's heels is none other than 2009 WSOP Main Event champion Joe Cada who will return for Day 2 with 127,000.
The eliminations came fast and furious today as professional players and amateurs alike sat down for fast-paced six-handed action. As the day progressed, many notable names quickly disappear from play. The likes of Jason Mercier, Daniel Negreanu, Bill Chen, Lauren Kling Marvin Rettenmaier, Jesse Sylvia, David Williams, Paul Volpe, Andy Frankenberger, Naoya Kihara, and Jake Cody were just a small sample size of those to hit the rail.
While those players faltered, others were able to build their stacks, bob and weave their way through the field, and bag up chips in order to return for Day 2. Some of those returning for Day 2 include Keven Stammen (112,800), Stewart Newman (101,500), Matt Silva (90,700), Ami Allibay (88,000), Bryan Piccioli (85,000), Rex Clinkscales (52,700), 2010 WSOP Main Event champion Jonathan Duhamel (45,200), Ting Ho (44,400), Shannon Shorr (43,900), Calvin Anderson (42,400), Yevgeniy Timoshenko (39,700), and Rob Salaburu ( 23,400).

Also returning for Day 2 is Matt Salsberg. Salsberg was able fight through play and finally found his key doubled up hand late in the evening. It began when he opened to an unknown amount from the cutoff only to have the button three-bet to 3,800. The small blind four-bet and Salsberg five-bet shipped all in. The button folded and the blind announced a call.
