Hamby Unlucky

Level 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Jared Hamby, who had just successfully 3-betted Andrew Lichtenberger the last hand, opened under-the-gun plus one to 7,000. The big blind made the call and the dealer brought out the first three community cards: {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}. The big blind shoved all in for a little over 50,000 and Hamby, with some doubt in his voice, made the call almost immediately.

Hamby was in good shape with his {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} since the big blind showed up with {K-Clubs}{9-Clubs}. The {A-Hearts} on the turn was a safe card for Hamby but the {K-Spades} on the river was not. He shook his head a couple of times, counting out the chips he owed in the mean time.
