Matros Leads Field in Event #42

Welcome to Day 2 of Event #42: $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em! Matt Matros leads the field with 145,000 in chips after yesterday’s ten levels of play. Matros has won bracelets in each of the past three years, and is currently looking to tie the record of four consecutive years with a WSOP bracelet, a feat that’s been achieved only by Bill Boyd and the legendary Doyle Brunson.

Play began yesterday with 2,100 entrants, only 168 of whom survived Day 1 to return today. Jake Balsiger, 2012 Main Event final tablist, sits second in chips behind Matros with 129,100. Joining Matros and Balsiger on Day 2 will be Ari Engel, Victor Ramdin, David Chiu, Ryan Laplante, Ryan Tepen, Allen Kessler, AP Phahurat, James Mackey, McLean Karr, and many more. The money bubble burst yesterday, and all remaining players are guaranteed a payout of at least $2,116, but they all are surely looking toward the $345,037 first-place prize and the golden WSOP bracelet.

Cards will be in the air at 1 p.m. local Las Vegas time. Stay with us here at PokerNews as we bring you live updates from all the Day 2 action. In the meantime, check out Lynn Gilmartin's update on all today's events and yesterday's winners.
