RWIII's Stop-and-Go Minus the Go

Level 20

No-Limit Hold'em

Preflop action between Philip Sternheimer (middle position) and Robert Williamson III (playing from the blinds), saw the latter deciding to keep just a few thousand behind to see a flop come {4-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}.

"The stop-and-go!" said Sternheimer, and Williamson laughingly agreed that was his plan. "But Robert," added Sternheimer. "The stop-and-go usually doesn't work if you say it's a stop-and-go!"

The table laughed, and after looking at those first three community cards Williamson checked. Sternheimer checked behind, then after the {Q-Diamonds} turn Williamson checked again, Sternheimer said he was all in, and Williamson had to fold.

Soon after "RWIII" was all in with {7-Spades}{7-Hearts} versus Christopher George's {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}.

"A seven's coming, Robert," insisted Tom McCormick, and sure enough the flop came {7-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{3-Hearts} to give Williamson a set. The turn was the {8-Spades} and river the {10-Clubs}, and Williamson still has his seat for now.
