A Short Day and A Bracelet For Castaneda

Level 3 : 50/100, 0 ante
Dana Castaneda
Dana Castaneda

Dana Castaneda was trying to parlay her win from Event #54 into another gold bracelet, unfortunately, right after she received her gold bracelet in today's ceremony, she busted the tournament. No one likes to bust a tournament, but if you are forced to leave the tournament floor, what better way than with a new gold bracelet on your arm?

Her dad, Danny, is also playing the tournament today and still has chips. Castaneda can now return the favor and rail her dad as he strives to make them the first father/daughter gold bracelet winners. As she was leaving the tournament area, she told us she was sending some of her run good to her dad today and saving the rest of it for the Main Event.

Michael Craig Spotted

Level 2 : 25/50, 0 ante

We spotted Michael Craig during our latest walkthrough of the Brasilia Room. Craig is the author of the ever-popular book The Professor, the Banker, and the Suicide King: Inside the Richest Poker Game of All Time. The book provides a detailed account from behind the scenes of the high stakes games between Andy Beal and some of the best poker players in the world including Doyle Brunson, Phil Ivey and Jennifer Harmon to name a few.

Craig has also made a name for himself on the felt and not just writing about it and has seven World Series of Poker cashes to his name, including a runner-up finish in Razz from 2009. He has seen success in both online and live games and has even participated in some poker tournament training in the past.

Check-Raise Wins it

Level 2 : 25/50, 0 ante

After an early-position raise to 125, Jennifer Tilly defended her big blind. The flop came {5-Spades}{j-Clubs}{8-Hearts}, and Tilly checked. The preflop raiser continued for 150, and Tilly called. The turn brought the {6-Spades}, and Tilly checked again. Her opponent bet out for 325, and this time Tilly check-raised to 800. Her opponent quickly released her hand, and the Oscar-nominated actress took the pot.

Hamby is Here

Jared Hamby holds his gold bracelet aloft

It was less than two weeks ago that Jared Hamby earned his first gold bracelet in Event #40 and he is apparently after some more jewelry. We just caught him all in for 2,550 on a {k-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{k-Spades}{2-Hearts}{j-Hearts} board with about a 4,000 pot. His opponent was in the tank for quite a bit but ended up releasing his hand. Maybe he caught on to Hamby's recent run good. The question is, can it continue?

Balsiger Building Early

Level 2 : 25/50, 0 ante

Jake Balsiger is playing aggressively early in the tournament. In a recent hand, a player in middle position raised to 150, another player called, and then action folded to Balsiger in the big blind. He checked his cards and thought for a minute, then three-bet to 450. Both other players folded, and Balsiger added the chips to his stack.
