Watson's Quick Slide Ends in 29th

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante

Mike Watson began the day second in chips, but after losing a big all-in hand with {A-}{A-}{x-}{x-} to Tom Marchese's {K-}{K-}{x-}{x-} his stack was more than cut in half.

It wasn't too much longer after that when Watson found himself with kings — {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{K-Spades}{3-Spades}, to be precise — and putting the last of his stack in following a {2-Hearts}{9-Spades}{6-Diamonds} flop against Joseph Cheong. Unfortunately for Watson, Cheong had flopped a set of nines with {J-Spades}{10-Spades}{9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}, and after the {2-Spades} turn and {A-Diamonds} river, Watson was out in 29th.

By contrast, Cheong has had a much better time of it on Day 3 so far. He started the day with one of the shorter stacks but is now suddenly up near the leaders.

Collado Cut Down

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante

Jan Collado just got the last of his chips in the middle against Alexey Rybin following a {5-Spades}{6-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop and holding {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{7-Diamonds} for an open-ended straight draw. Meanwhile, Rybin had flopped a set of sixes with {7-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}.

The {8-Hearts} turn and {A-Spades} river provided no help to Collado, and he's out in 30th place.

"I Have No Problem With You, Your Play is Bad"

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante

Nadar Kakhmazov moved all in for 188,000 on a flop of {9-Spades}{q-Hearts}{j-Spades}.

"I call," shrugged his opponent, Mark Davis. "I have a straight."

He showed {k-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} for a king-high straight, and Kakhmazov tabled {9-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{2-Spades}{2-Diamonds} for a pair of nines and a three-high flush draw.

"No spade!" Jared Bleznick got up and shouted suddenly. "No spade!"

The turn was a spade - the {5-Spades} - and the {7-Hearts} completed the board, doubling Kakhmazov, but the Russian was angry that Bleznick was openly anti-sweating him.

"No spade, huh?" he asked Bleznick, who ignored him.

"Look at this hand!" Bleznick shouted to anyone that would listen. "Deuce-three of spades! This is how the Russians do it!"

Fellow Russian Alex Kravchenko had wandered over at this point to see what the commotion was all about. He clapped Kakhmazov on the back in support, and chuckled at Bleznick's filibuster. Bleznick tried to get Kravchenko to admit that only a Russian would play such a hand, but all Kravchenko did was smile silently.

"You're next with this hand," Kakhmazov warned Bleznick.

Bleznick sat back down, and turned to the Russian with a serious look on his face.

"I have no problem with you," Belznick told him, sincerely. "Your play is bad."

Nice Spot for Stenheim

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante

Morten Stenheim just enjoyed a double-up through Daniel Alaei after getting the last of his stack in on the turn in a favorable spot.

At the moment Stenheim committed his stack the board read {Q-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{4-Spades}{A-Hearts} and he held {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for top set. Meanwhile, Alaei had {A-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} for two pair and no outs available to him to catch up. The {3-Diamonds} river was no matter, then, and Stenheim earned the double.

Marchese on the March

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante

Tom Marchese opened with a raise from the button, Mike Watson three-bet from the small blind, and before the pair were done Marchese was all in before the flop for his last 319,000.

Marchese held {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} and Watson {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}, and after the {6-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{8-Spades} flop Marchese's prospects appeared dim. But the {K-Hearts} fell on the turn to give him a leading set, and after the {J-Diamonds} river Marchese had doubled back while Watson slips to below 450,000.

Massive Start for Bleznick

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante

Despite writing "100,000" on his bag last night, and nodding fervently when our reporter asked him if this number was correct, Jared Bleznick began Day 3 with 226,000 chips. On the very first hand, he three-bet to 88,000 after Nacho Barbero had opened to 24,000 in early position. Barbero called.

The flop fell {a-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{k-Hearts}, Barbero checked, and Bleznick moved all in for 139,000. Barbero snap-called.

Bleznick: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}
Barbero: {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{q-Spades}{9-Spades}

Both players had flopped a set, but Bleznick's set of aces was higher. He held as the turn and river bricked off {8-Clubs}, {10-Hearts} respectively, and doubled to 454,000 chips. Barbero was crippled to 85,000.

A few hands later, after a series of preflop raises, Bleznick was all in and at risk again. Barbero called all in for much less, and Nadar Kakhmazov had both players covered.

Bleznick: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Barbero: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}
Kakhmazov: {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

"S***!" Bleznick said at the sight of Barbero's aces.

Not to fret, both players' hands held as the board ran out {3-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{9-Spades}{2-Hearts}{9-Clubs}, and Bleznick began to celebrate.

"Yes baby!" he shouted, high-fiving a friend. "Yes!"

He doubled once again, and now sits with 815,000 chips, while Barbero is still short with 130,000 and Kakhmazov dropped down to 220,000.

Alaei Claims Chidwick's Chips

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante

Soon after play began, Stephen Chidwick found himself in a preflop battle with Daniel Alaei in which the latter was playing from the button and Chidwick from the blinds.

Having committed significant chips before the {3-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{4-Clubs} flop, Chidwick got the rest of his stack in at that point with {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}, but unfortunately for him Alaei had flopped a flush with {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{7-Clubs}.

Chidwick was drawing especially thin, and after the {9-Spades} fell on the turn there were no river cards that could save him, making the fifth street {3-Diamonds} just a final bit of trivia as Chidwick hits the rail in 32nd place.
