Alaei Doubles Through Bleznick, Assumes Lead

Level 26 : 25,000/50,000, 0 ante
Daniel Alaei
Daniel Alaei

Hand #67: Daniel Alaei raised to 115,000 from middle position, then Jared Bleznick reraised to 350,000 from one seat over. It folded back around to Alaei who called the raise, then the flop came {9-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}. Alaei promptly bet 775,000, leaving himself about 300,000 behind. Bleznick raised, and Alaei called.

Alaei: {A-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{7-Spades}
Bleznick: {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{9-Hearts}

Bleznick had the lead with his kings, but the {3-Spades} fell on the turn to give Alaei more ways to overtake him. A standing Bleznick leaned over and grabbed Alaei's shoulders, saying "good luck." The river then brought the {6-Spades} to complete Alaei's flush, and though disappointed Bleznick nonetheless shook Alaei's hand as he went from near-elimination to the chip lead.

Hand #63: Daniel Alaei called out of small blind, Jared Bleznick checked in the big blind, and the flop fell {5-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{3-Spades}. Alaei tossed out 65,000, and Bleznick folded.

Hand #64: James Wiese raised to 100,00 from under the gun, Alaei raised the pot (375,000) on the button, and the action folded back to Wiese, who folded as well.

Hand #65: Rory Rees Brennan raised to 175,000 in the hijack seat, Alaei called in the cutoff, and the button and both blinds released. The flop came down {2-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{3-Hearts}, and Brennan checked-folded to a bet from Alaei.

Hand #66: Alaei limped in from the hijack seat, Wiese completed from the small blind, and Sean Dempsey raised to 200,000 in the big blind. Alaei folded, Wiese called, and the flop fell {8-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}. Both players checked, the turn was the {a-Clubs}, and the two checked again. The {6-Clubs} completed the board, Wiese fired out 250,000, and Dempsey called.

Wiese showed {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for a straight, and Dempsey mucked.

Hand #58: Jared Bleznick raised to 125,000 from the cutoff seat and got a caller in James Wiese playing from the small blind. Sean Dempsey then made a pot-sized reraise to 500,000 from the big blind, and both Bleznick and Wiese quickly folded.

Hand #59: Bleznick limped in from the hijack seat this time, then Wiese raised to 150,000 from the button, chasing the blinds. Bleznick called the raise, and the pair saw a flop come {4-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{6-Clubs}. Both checked, then the {A-Diamonds} fell on the turn and both checked once more.

The river was the {Q-Hearts}. Bleznick checked, and when Wiese bet 150,000, Bleznick shook his head a little before making the call and tabling {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}{7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}. His hand was good as Wiese mucked, and Bleznick claimed the pot.

The river was the {4-Hearts} and both checked again. Alaei showed {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and Bleznick {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{7-Spades}, and Bleznick won the pot with top pair, top kicker.

Hand #55: Gjergj Sinishtaj raised to 110,000 from the hijack seat, then Alaei reraised to 380,000 from the small blind. The action back on Sinishtaj, he thought for about a half-minute before making the call.

Hand #49: Numit Agrawal raised to 90,000, and Rory Rees Brennan responded with a pot-sized reraise all in from one seat over. It folded back to Agrawal who made the call.

Brennan had {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{3-Hearts} and Agrawal {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}{Q-Spades}{6-Spades}.
