Mercier Picks One Up

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

Two-time World Series of Poker pot-limit Omaha gold bracelet winner Jason Mercier raised to 400 from early position, and one player called a couple seats behind. Everyone else folded, and the flop came down {9-Spades}{8-Spades}{5-Diamonds}. Mercier checked, his opponent bet 525, and Mercier called.

The turn was the {9-Clubs}, and both players checked to see the {Q-Spades} land on the river. Both players checked again.

After his opponent showed just the {A-Clubs}{8-Clubs} from his hand, Mercier tabled the {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{4-Clubs} for a flush and won the pot.

Quads for Rast

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

When our reporter arrived at the table, Brian Rast had a raise to 4,700 out in front of him on the {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{A-Hearts} board against an opponent who had 1,500 in front of him. It appeared Rast had check-raised the turn, but the exact action was unknown. At any rate, Rast's opponent called to see the {8-Clubs} fall on the river. Rast then led with a bet of 10,500, and his opponent made the call.

Rast turned over the {K-Spades}{9-Spades}{9-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} for quad nines. His opponent mucked, and Rast scooped the pot to move to 37,000 in chips.

Plenty of Extras Being Given Away At This Year's WSOP

Level 4 : 150/300, 0 ante

The buzz inside the walls of the Rio extends beyond just the tournaments on the 2013 World Series of Poker schedule. Online poker in Nevada is a very, very hot topic right now, and WSOP.com is making a lot of noise.

While the site has yet to launch, you can head to the Lambada Room of the Rio or look for one of the beautiful and friendly WSOP.com ladies walking the hallways to sign up for a free, personal WSOP.com online poker account. This is a great way to get a jump on the site's registration, and plenty of people have already taken this opportunity.

What's more is that the WSOP will be hosting daily raffles for everyone that has taken the time to register for WSOP.com at the Rio. What can you win? Plenty of fantastic prizes including 36 WSOP seats!

Players 21 years of age and older who sign up for a WSOP.com account will automatically be entered into the “36-Seat Giveaway” where a randomly-selected winner will win a seat into the next day’s first WSOP gold bracelet event. One of the events eligible in this promotion is the $111,111 One Drop High Roller No-Limit Hold’em tournament that is expected to feature a $10,000,000 prize pool and allow you to play poker with the biggest names in the game. In total, $182,333 in WSOP seats, including a seat to the WSOP Main Event, are being given away during this one-of-a-kind WSOP.com promotion.

In addition to the 36-Seat Giveaway, a “Hot Seat” promotion will allow any player who signs up for a WSOP.com online account and wears their WSOP.com patch on their chest at the table while playing an event to be randomly selected to receive 500 bonus dollars deposited directly into their WSOP.com online account once the site has received all regulatory approvals and launches.

With 62 WSOP gold bracelet events and three winners promised for the Main Event, this promotion includes $32,000 worth of value to those participating.

Dang Eliminated by "Boosted J"

In the last hand of Level 3, there was approximately 2,000 in the pot and a flop reading {10-Spades}{8-Clubs}{q-Spades} when online high-stakes regular Hac Dang checked from middle position and Justin "Boosted J" Smith bet 2,000 from the cutoff. Dang took his time before dropping in a call and then checked after the dealer burned and turned the {a-Clubs}. Smith waited about 45 seconds before betting 6,300 and Dang responded with a check-raise all in. "I call," Smith whispered.

Dang: {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{4-Spades}
Smith: {10-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{j-Hearts}

Dang had flopped top set but was behind the straight of Smith. The {9-Diamonds} failed to pair the board on the river and Dang rapped the table, stood and then exited the tournament.

Meanwhile, Don Nguyen, who finished runner-up in the $50,000 Poker Players' Championship last night, has been eliminated from the tournament.
