Ivey Scores A Knockout

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante
Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

There was about 10,500 in the middle when we arrived to see Phil Ivey in the middle of a three way pot. The flop read {6-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{8-Clubs}, and the big blind checked to Ivey, who bet out 6,000. A player in late position moved all in for 23,000, and while the big blind folded, Ivey made the call.

Ivey: {9-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}
Opponent: {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}

Ivey held the lead, and the {7-Hearts} on the turn was an interesting card. This gave Ivey's opponent a set, but also gave Ivey a straight. He was looking to avoid the board pairing, and the {a-Clubs} on the river got the job done.

Ivey has been down all day, but after taking that pot, he is back in the six figure range with 129,000.
