Fernandez Falls, then Climbs Back

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

A short while ago Pedro Fernandez open-pushed all in for just over 155,000 from the button, then Max Ovseyevitz called all in for 134,000 from the big blind. Ovseyevitz had {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} and Fernandez {J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}, and after the board rolled out {8-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}, Ovseyevitz had doubled while Fernandez was crippled down to just a little over one big blind.

A couple of hands later Fernandez was all in for his last 16,000 from the hijack seat and four players called — Ronnie Bardah (cutoff), Ovseyevitz (button), Eddie Blumenthal (small blind), and Jay Farber (big blind). The flop came {10-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{3-Spades}, and it checked around to Ovseyevitz who bet 41,000, good enough to force folds from the other three players.

Ovseyevitz showed that he'd flopped top pair with {10-Diamonds}{9-Spades}, while Fernandez began calling for cards to pair his hand as he held {K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}. Fourth street then brought the {Q-Hearts} to hit Fernandez's hand, and after the {J-Hearts} river he had quintupled up.

On the very next hand Fernandez was all in again with {A-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} against Fabian Ortiz's {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}, and the board ran out {10-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{3-Clubs}{10-Clubs} to give Fernandez trips and push him right back close to where he was to start the sequence.
