Bounahra Eliminated As Tryba Wins Three-Way Clash

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Amal Bounahra (Day 1c)
Amal Bounahra (Day 1c)

Amal Bounahra, daughter of former November Niner Bob Bounahra and girlfriend of Antonio Esfandiari, has just been eliminated in a three-way clash.

On the {K-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop, Bounahra, Chris Tryba and one other player got all the money in. Tryba held bottom set with the {5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}. Bounahra held the {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} for a flush draw and Broadway straight draw. The third player in the hand had the {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} for top two pair.

The turn brought the {Q-Spades} and the river the {4-Diamonds}. Both of those cards kept Tryba's set of fives in the lead, and he won the pot. Tryba had more chips than both of his opponents and sent them to the rail.

Tryba now has nearly 200,000 in chips.

Griffin Value Smashes The River

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

We caught up with Ashton Griffin in a pot with one other player on a board of {9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{J-Spades}{4-Hearts} with about 15,000 chips in the middle. The other player was first to act and he led with a bet of 13,000. Griffin decided that wasn't enough for him, he raised to a total of 36,000.

The other player went into the tank and quietly tried to figure out Griffin's holdings. After about a minute and a half of thinking, the player called. Griffin showed {6-Spades}{4-Spades} for a rivered two pair and that was good enough to take down the pot when the other player mucked.

Aces for Alner

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

We just came on a four-way hand involving Tom Alner and Tommy Hang that had reached the flop with the board showing {Q-Spades}{3-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and decent-sized pot already starting to develop. It checked to Alner who fired 5,200 at the pot. Next to act, Hang raised to 10,500 and the other two players got out, but Alner called the raise.

Both players then checked the {10-Spades} turn card. The {K-Spades} fell on the river, and Alner quickly patted the felt to check. Hang took about thirty seconds to consider the situation, but then he checked as well.

Alner turned over {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}, and Hang held on to his hand for several seconds before finally mucking.

Flop Hits Schwartz

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

We only arrived for the aftermath, but Luke Schwartz has earned a double-up here as we approach the midway point of Level 9.

The board showed {7-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{8-Clubs}, and table talk made it sounds as though Schwartz had committed his entire remaining stack at some point after the flop. If so, it was a nice spot for Schwartz as he held {A-Hearts}{6-Hearts} for the nuts while his opponent had {J-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}. With that one Schwartz moves up over 90,000.

Sleeping on the Couch

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Laura Green, Scott Born
Laura Green, Scott Born

With the ESPN film crew storming over to a table, we decided to follow suit to see what the commotion was about.

One player had moved all in and Laura Green had made the call before her husband Scott Born called all in from the blinds.

Green: {7-}{7-}
Born: {Q-Clubs}{J-Spades}
Opponent: {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}

WIth Green having the best hand, she would eventually run last on the {6-Spades}{3-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{A-Hearts} board as her husband Born spike a runner-runner Broadway straight to stay alive with just a little above starting stack.

Green however maybe sending her Mr to the couch tonight as she took a hit to drop to 42,000 in chips.

Chinni Takes One Out

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

We arrived at the table just as Jesse Chinni called his opponents all in on a {3-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{j-Clubs} flop. Chinni had flopped top set with his {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}. His opponent rolled over his {a-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for the nut flush draw. The board ran out the {k-Diamonds} and {9-Hearts} to award Chinni the pot, as another player was knocked out of the tournament.

Aces for Epp

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Following a raise to 2,200 from the under the gun player and then a call, Gillian Epp moved all in for 11,400. The initial raiser made the call as the player in the middle folded.

Epp: {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}
Opponent: {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}

The board ran out {4-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{2-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} to see Epp strike a double to move to over 27,000 in chips.
