Manami Hayamizu Setting Up for 2nd WSOP Cash

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

After a middle position player raised to 6,500, Manami Hayamizu three-bet to 16,000. The initial raiser called, and the flop came {6-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}. Action checked to Hayamizu, who continued for 17,000. Her opponent thought about it for a few moments, then elected to fold. Hayamizu pulled in the pot thanks to her characteristic aggression, a habit which has kept her above the average chip count late into Day 3 of the Main Event.

Hayamizu hails from Japan, and has several impressive results on the Asian circuit. She's final tabled events at both the Macau Poker Cup and APPT Seoul. If she makes it past the money bubble of the Main Event, it will be her second WSOP cash. We'll keep an eye on Hayamizu as she tries to make a deep run and possibly the final table.

Forrest Standing Tall

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

With about 120,000 in the middle and the board showing {J-Spades}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}, Anthony Forsyth Forrest saw his opponent push out a bet of 30,500 and after thinking about 10 seconds Forrest called.

The river then brought the {7-Diamonds} and checks from both players. "Deuce" said Forrest's opponent without yet turning over his hand. Forrest then turned his over — {A-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} for a pair of treys — and his opponent nodded and mucked.

Andy Frankenberger
Andy Frankenberger

Camera crews were swarmed around Annette Obrestad's table once again as Andy Frankenberger had moved all in over the top of Obrestad's opening raise and she had called.

Obrestad: {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}
Frankenberger: {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}

The board ran out {6-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{2-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{8-Clubs} which was clean for Obrestad and she was able to notch the knock out and send Frankenberger home from the tournament just before the last break of the night.

Aces Serve Armstrong

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

We just witnessed yet another big three-way preflop all-in situation, this one involving a short stack taking his chances with {6-Spades}{4-Hearts}, Mike Watson tabling {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}, and Jamie Armstrong having {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}.

The flop came {4-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{J-Spades} to give the short stack some hope, but the turn was the {10-Clubs} and river the {8-Hearts}, and one more player was eliminated while Armstrong survived after claiming a big chunk of Watson's stack.

Gill Gets a Few

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Carter Gill opened with a raise from middle position and got two callers from the cutoff seat and the button, the latter being Walter Treccarichi who has been steadily building a big stack throughout Day 3.

The flop came {5-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and Gill led with a bet of 7,500, called by both opponents. The turn then brought the {K-Clubs}, and this time Gill fired 15,000. The cutoff folded quickly, and after thinking an extra couple of beats, Treccarichi folded as well.

Gill has improved his stack over Level 14, while Treccarichi continues to enjoy a stack of more than 600,000.

Kroon Fills Up on Haxton

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

On a {9-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{5-Spades} flop we found Mark Kroon betting out 11,000 with two players calling; one of which was Isaac Haxton on the button.

The turn landed the {4-Diamonds} and Kroon continued for 26,000 with only Haxton making the call as the {9-Hearts} completed the board on the river with Kroon firing once again; this time for 22,000.

As Haxton went into the tank to deliberate, Kroon would eventually call the clock which would slightly anger Haxton.

With the clock counting down to around 30 seconds, Haxton would push out a raise to 57,000 and Kroon would insta-call.

Haxton tabled his {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}, but it would be Kroon's {9-Clubs}{8-Spades} for a rivered full house that would see him collect the pot and move his stack back over the 300,000-chip mark.

Tony Gregg - Eliminated

Olaoluwa Okelola opened to 8,000 under the gun and One Drop High Rollers No-Limit Hold'em champion Tony Gregg three-bet all in for 92,000 from the hijack. After about 60 seconds, Yuri Dzivielevski called from the cutoff. Action folded back to Okelola who folded.

Gregg: {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}
Dzivielevski: {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}

The board came down {8-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}, bringing no help to Gregg, ending his Main Event.

Ramage Rising

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Grayson Ramage has improved his status considerably during Level 14, especially after just doubling up against an opponent after getting his stack in following a {J-Spades}{5-Spades}{3-Clubs} flop.

"Two pair?" asked Ramage somewhat worriedly after his opponent had decided to call his flop shove. "Nah, just a pair and a flush draw," said his opponent, turning over {4-Spades}{3-Spades}. The turn was the {Q-Hearts} and river the {7-Hearts}, and Ramage's upswing continues.

Mortensen Loses Four-Bet Pot

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Carlos Mortensen saw a turn that cost him some chips.
Carlos Mortensen saw a turn that cost him some chips.

Dan Owen raised to 6,000 from early position, and Carlos Mortensen reraised to 16,000 from the cutoff. The button came over the top with a cold four-bet to 36,000, and Owen got out of the way. Mortensen made the call, and the players watched the {4-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{10-Clubs} flop. Both players checked, and a {k-Spades} fell on the turn. Mortensen checked once more, but this time his opponent bet 29,000. Mortensen called, and the dealer placed a {2-Hearts} as the river card. Mortensen checked again, staring at his opponent, who bet 62,000 on the end.

Mortensen called, and his opponent quickly tabled {q-Hearts}{j-Hearts} for the nut straight. Mortensen tossed his cards into the air towards the muck, and the {k-Diamonds} came down face-up.
