Another Double for Galfond

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

As hard as they try, the players at Table 421 can't get rid of the great Phil Galfond. Tommy Hang just took a whack at Galfond here in Level 14, but once again the online cash legend prevailed.

Hang opened with a raise to 8,000 from the small blind and Galfond moved all in for 78,500 from the big blind. Hang went into the tank as the ESPN crew made its way over to the table, and he eventually decided to call with {K-Clubs}{J-Clubs}. Galfond tabled the {A-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}, and the {8-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{A-Spades}{8-Spades} board shipped another double up to Galfond.

Stein Survives

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Sam Stein has been on the short side chip-wise for much of the day and just now found it needful to open-push all in for 41,000 from the hijack seat. He got a quick call from his neighbor to the left, and when it folded back around Stein showed {3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} and was hoping the small pair would hold up versus his opponent's {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}.

The board ran out {2-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}, then {Q-Spades}, the {4-Clubs}, and Stein survived albeit still with below average chips.

Lunkin Takes One From Obrestad

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Vitaly Lunkin
Vitaly Lunkin

We didn't catch all the action but we know that on a board of {Q-Clubs}{8-Spades}{6-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} Vitaly Lunkin checked to Annette Obrestad and she put out a bet. Lunkin called the bet and the two headed to the {6-Spades} on the river.

On the river, Lunkin thought for a few seconds before checking. Obrestad also thought for a few seconds, then she checked behind.

"I have a four," Obrestad said.

Lunkin turned up his {K-Spades}{Q-Spades} for top pair and that was good enough to take down the pot.

"The only way I can get him to fold there is if I shove," Obrestad said. Lunkin shook his head though, implying that there was no way he was folding.

Greg Merson Doubles Up, Then Loses Some Back

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

With a raise to 6,000 and a call before him, Greg Merson three-bet to 24,500 from the big blind. Samuel Tsehai, the original raiser, four-bet to 43,000, forcing a fold from the third player in the hand. Merson five-bet to 76,500, Tsehai shoved with the bigger stack, and Merson called all in for 284,000 with {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}, miles ahead of Tsehai's {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}.

The {7-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{2-Clubs} flop was safe for Merson, though the {K-Hearts} turn gave Tsehai two outs. However, the {5-Hearts} river secured the double up for Merson.

A few hands later, Merson opened to 7,500 in the hijack and Bruno "Kool Shen" Lopes called from the small blind. The {K-Hearts}{J-Spades}{3-Hearts} flop was checked by both and Lopes bet 10,000 after the {3-Diamonds} turn fell. Merson raised to 25,000, leading to a Lopes reraise shove for about 125,000. Merson went deep into the tank, emerging after about three minutes with a call, tabling {A-Spades}{J-Diamonds}. Lopes was drawing with {Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and got there when the {6-Hearts} river gave him a flush.

Johnson Continues to Climb

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

At the lone table remaining in the back section of the room, Chris Johnson three-bet to 16,000 from the small blind after the player on the button opened to 6,000. The button made the call, and the flop came {6-Spades}{8-Clubs}{3-Hearts}. Johnson bet 20,000, and his opponent folded, and Johnson is nearing the 400,000 mark.

Dattani Defers

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Umang Dattani just opened for 7,000 from the hijack seat, then watched as an opponent on the button pushed all in from the button. It folded back around to Dattani who looked over his sunglasses perched low on his nose at his opponent's stack.

"I'm probably not gonna call," he said, but asked for a count nonetheless. Learning it was 77,500, Dattani leaned back and tossed his cards away. "You win!" he said.

For most of the day, though, it has been Dattani winning the pots at his table. He entered Day 3 with a big stack, and has grown it further all day to push up over 750,000 at the moment.

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

A player on the button raised to 6,500 and Rupert Elder responded with a three-bet to 17,000 from the small blind. After the big blind folded, the button shoved for 136,000, and Elder called.

Button: {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}
Elder: {A-Clubs}{10-Hearts}

The board ran out an uneventful {4-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{6-Spades}{2-Clubs}, and Elder stack dipped to 204,000.

Crane Can't Beat Aces

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

From late position, Russell Crane raised to 6,500. The button three-bet to 17,500, and Crane made the call. Then, the dealer spread the {8-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} flop, and Crane checked. His opponent bet 22,500, and Crane called.

The turn card was the {K-Spades}, and Crane checked again. His opponent fired 60,000, and Crane called. After the {7-Diamonds} river, both players checked.

Crane mucked after his opponent showed the {A-Hearts}{A-Spades} and dropped back to 268,000 in chips.

Morris Endures Slight Damage from Ramage

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

A three-way hand saw both blinds check a {9-Spades}{6-Spades}{9-Hearts} flop to Grayson Ramage in the cutoff who bet 10,500. The action came back to Gregory Morris in the small blind who check-raised to 23,500, forcing out the big blind.

Ramage sat for about a minute before acting, then declared he was all in for the 100,000 or so he had left behind. Morris took about 30 seconds, then let his hand go.
