Tripodi Eliminates Ljubrici

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Shortly after returning from break, Australia’s Mario Ljubrici was eliminated from the tournament.

The hand started with Clement Tripodi opening to 20,000 from under the gun, and finding a call from the player on the button. Ljubrici was on the big blind, and opted to move all in for 180,000 in chips. Tripodi quickly made the call, as the other player got out of the way.

Ljubrici: {a-}{j-}
Tripodi: {a-}{k-}

Unfortunately for Ljubrici had run a better hand, and was unable to improve as the board ran out {9-}{6-}{5-}{10-}{k-}.

No Chip and a Chair Story for Marafioti

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Matt Marafioti
Matt Marafioti

We stumbled upon Matt Marafioti after he was moved to a new table, and saw that he was all in.....for 1,000. According to Michael Engell, Marafioti was crippled when he moved all in for 58,000 with {6-}{6-}, and Engell woke up with {a-}{a-} right behind him. Marafioti couldn't catch up, and he was down to a single 1,000 chip. That chip got in the middle on the next hand after Kevin Williams raised it up to 20,000 under the gun. Everyone else folded to that bet, and Marafioti was actually heads up for a chance to turn 1,000 into 9,000.

Marafioti: {3-Clubs}{2-Hearts}
Williams: {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}

Marafioti was all but dead when the flop came {7-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}. The {5-Hearts} on the turn ended it, and the meaningless river was the {7-Diamonds}. Marafioti left with a smile on his face as he wished everyone luck before heading to the payout desk.

Ramirez Tries the Bluff

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Senovio Ramirez checked to Guilherme Garcia on a flop of {j-Hearts}{6-Spades}{8-Diamonds}, and Garcia fired out 50,000. Ramirez check-raised to 150,000, Garcia called, and the turn brought the {5-Diamonds}. Ramirez led out for 225,000, Garcia called, and the {9-Spades} completed the board. Both players checked.

Ramirez showed {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for a pair of nines, but he was no good against Garcia's {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs} for a pair of queens.

Porter Doubles Through Newhouse

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Mark Newhouse opened to 20,000 from early position, and Rep Porter, located directly to Newhouse's left, three-bet to 53,000. Action folded back to Newhouse, who fired back with a four-bet to 220,000. Porter five-bet shoved for an additional 120,000, and Newhouse called.

Porter: {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}
Newhouse: {Q-Spades}{J-Diamonds}

Newhouse was caught in a bluff, but Porter wasn't out of the woods yet. The {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Spades} flop kept Porter in front, and the {7-Diamonds} on the turn left Newhouse drawing dead even before he paired his queen on the river. Porter chipped up to about 700,000, and Newhouse sitting behind 910,000.

Timoshenko Gets Value From a Full House Out of Friedman

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Adam Friedman
Adam Friedman

Yevgeniy Timoshenko opened from under the gun + 1 to 22,000. Action folded around to Adam Friedman in the big blind who called.

The flop came down {10-Spades}{9-Spades}{J-Spades} and Friedman checked to Timoshenko who fired off a bet of 30,000. Friedman called.

On the {J-Diamonds} turn Friedman checked again. Timoshenko put out another bet, this time for 54,000. Friedman called again.

The river was the {5-Spades} and Friedman checked for a third time. While Timoshenko was thinking about what to do, one of the players at the table called the clock on him. About 15 seconds into his clock, Timoshenko put out a bet of 90,000. Friedman tanked for about a minute before finally tossing in the call. Timoshenko showed {J-}{10-} for a full house and that was good to take down the pot as Friedman mucked.

Bartlett Doubles Through Depa

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

From the button, Steve Bartlett raised to 20,000. In the small blind was Jonathan Depa, and he reraised to 47,000. Play got back to Bartlett, and he called to see the flop come down {7-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{2-Hearts} behind.

On the flop, Bartlett had 238,000 behind after calling the three-bet. Depa had him well covered. Depa fired a bet of 39,000, to which Bartlett fired back with a raise to 86,000. Depa moved all in, and Bartlett tank-called.

Bartlett showed the {K-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} for top pair with a king kicker. Although Bartlett was dominated preflop by Depa's {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}, he was now the one dominating. The turn was the {3-Clubs} and river the {Q-Diamonds}. Bartlett kept his lead from the flop and doubled up to 589,000. Depa slipped under 400,000.

Aces Catapult Savill

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

A huge post-dinner, preflop confrontation just took place between Sterling Savill and Robin Ylitalo which saw the pair trading bets until Savill had put in another hefty reraise, and after pausing for some time Ylitalo declared he was all in and Savill called instantly, creating a huge 1 million-plus chip pot.

Savill sprung up out of his seat as he made the call, tabling his {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades} while Ylitalo showed {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}.

"Hold, hold, hold," said Savill repeatedly as the dealer successively dealt the {3-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{2-Hearts} flop, the {Q-Hearts} turn, and the {2-Diamonds} river.

At the sight of the river card Savill pumped his fist hard enough to make his watch slip off of his arm and into the lap of Jeremy Druckman seated to his right. Druckman returned the watch to Savill and after some time was taken to count down stacks, the huge pot was delivered to him as well.

Pellegrino: {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}
