The Prettiest Card in the Deck - For Jason Cohen

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Jason Cohen (Day 4) makes a straight flush
Jason Cohen (Day 4) makes a straight flush

Jason Cohen and Somar Al-Darwich were heads up on a flop of {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{2-Spades}, and after a series of bets, Cohen was all in for 634,000. Al-Darwich called.

Cohen: {9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}
Al-Darwich: {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}

Al-Darwich flopped a set of eights, but Cohen held a straight flush draw.

"Anyone fold a diamond?" Al-Darwich asked his tablemates, who remained silent. "Prettiest card in the deck. Ace of spades."

The turn card was one of the prettiest cards in the deck for Cohen, because the {j-Diamonds} gave him an unbeatable straight flush. Stunned, Al-Darwich threw his hands on his head and walked away from the table as the meaningless {4-Clubs} completed the board. Cohen doubled to 1.46 million chips, while Al-Darwich fell to 1.278 million.

Carlos Mortensen opened the preflop action with a raise to 47,000 from under the gun, and Alexander Livingston three-bet to 115,000. Mortensen called, bringing a flop of {4-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{3-Clubs}. Mortensen checked, and Livingston continued for 128,000. Mortensen called, bringing the {7-Hearts} on the turn. Mortensen checked, and Livingston bet again, this time for 270,000. Mortensen went deep into the tank. He cut out a call, but didn’t push it forward. He thought for a full five minutes, and then put the chips back in his stack and tossed his cards to the dealer.

Jaffe Flushes Rajkumar

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Jonathan Jaffe
Jonathan Jaffe

Jonathan Jaffe raised to 32,000 under the gun, and Vivek Rajkumar defended his big blind. The dealer fanned out a flop of {8-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}, and Rajkumar check called a bet of 42,000. The turn brought the {6-Hearts}, then both Rajkumar and Jaffe checked. The river was the {Q-Diamonds}, and Rajkumar checked to Jaffe. As he has already done a couple of times today, Jaffe thought for over a minute before firing out a huge river bet, this time for 218,000.

Rajkumar tanked for a minute before calling, and Jaffe tabled {K-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for a rivered flush. Vivek mucked, dropping him to 918,000, while Jaffe is now over a million.

Castelluccio Eliminates Ha

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Sergio Castelluccio opened for a raise from the hijack, and Vimy Ha three-bet to about 90,000 from the cutoff. Everyone else folded and Castelluccio moved all in.

"Will you show?" Ha asked after tanking for a couple of minutes.

"Just one," Castelluccio responded.

After another minute or so, Ha slid both of his stacks of chips in, and the players showed theirs hands.

Castelluccio: {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}
Ha: {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

"Come on," Ha exhorted.

The dealer placed out the flop: {8-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}, no help to Ha. The turn was the {k-Hearts}, leaving Ha still drawing to an ace or a queen. It was Castelluccio who improved on the end though, as the {j-Clubs} hit the board, eliminating Ha.
