Gohr Snaps Off Schwartz

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Sebastian Gohr raised to 32,000 after action folded to his button, and Noah Schwartz asked for a count of his chips after the small blind folded. He announced all in, and Gohr beat him into the pot.

Gohr: {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}
Schwartz: {k-Spades}{3-Hearts}

Schwartz needed considerable help, and the {3-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} flop brought only a deeper hole. A {k-Hearts} gave Schwartz a meaningless two pair, and a {4-Diamonds} completed the board.

"Aces on the button," Schwartz muttered.

Nadal Gets a Few from Morgenstern

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

The hand started with Jose Manuel Nadal opening to 34,000 from under the gun. The action folded around to Gad Morgenstern on the big blind, who made the call.

The flop came down {q-Hearts}{8-Spades}{q-Spades}, as Morgenstern checked his option. Nadal threw out a continuation bet of 32,000, before watching Morgenstern raise it up to 72,000. Nadal quickly made the call, as the {a-Clubs} fell on the turn. This time Morgenstern bet out 110,000, which was called. The {2-Spades} on the river saw both players check.

“Jack high,” said Morgenstern. Nadal then tabled his {a-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} for two pair, which was good enough to take down the pot.

Clements Four-Bet Shoves

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Vivek Rajkumar raised it up to 35,000 in middle position, and Jonathan Jaffe three bet to 75,000 next to act. It folded around to Samuel Clements, and he moved all in from the big blind. Rajkumar said “I was just kidding,” before folding, and Jaffe went into the tank. About a minute in he asked for exact count, and the dealer counted out 251,000. The whole while, Clements was leaning back talking casually with the floor supervisor while Jaffe was thinking. Eventually, Jaffe tossed his hand away, and Clements took down the pot.

Massive Double for Wise With Another Premium Hand

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Anthony Wise, who just doubled with pocket kings, is now among our chip leaders after doubling with pocket aces.

When we arrived at the table, Jorn Walthaus had a three-bet of 85,000 sitting in front of him. His opponent, Wise, four-bet to 215,000, Walthaus five-bet to 340,000, and Wise moved all in for 850,000. Walthaus called.

Walthaus: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Wise: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}

Over 1.8 million chips were in the middle, and the aces held up as the board rolled out {3-Spades}{7-Hearts}{4-Spades}{9-Hearts}{6-Hearts}. Walthaus slipped to 855,000.

Prager Pressures Kinane

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Joshua Prager
Joshua Prager

We found Christopher Kinane with a raise to 110,000 in front of him before Josh Prager in the hi-jack next to act made it 325,000. The action returned to Kinane and he made the call as the dealer spread a {2-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} flop before checking over to Prager.

Prager stacked his chips and pushed out a bet of 450,000 to put Kinane under pressure as the ESPN cameras rolled in to film the action.

Kinane went into the tank for close to four minutes - and at one point asked for a count of what Prager had behind (474,000) - before eventually folding his hand while slipping to 1 million in chips.

Hot Start for Ha

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Vimy Ha, who started the day with just 49,000 in chips but has since chipped up considerably, raised to 35,000 from middle position. Leonardo Cavarge three-bet to 80,000 in the cutoff, and the action folded back to Ha, who tank-called.

The flop fell {8-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}, and Ha moved all in for roughly 300,000. Cavarge tank-folded.

Rettenmaier Adds 300,000

Marvin Rettenmaier
Marvin Rettenmaier

Steve Bartlett raised to 32,000 from under the gun. Philip Long and Zhiwei Zhou called, and Marvin Rettenmaier three-bet to 116,000 from the small blind. Only Long called. The flop came {10-Spades}{6-Spades}{10-Clubs}, and Rettenmaier continued for 92,000. Long called, bringing the {k-Spades} on the turn. Rettenmaier thought for a couple minutes before cutting out a bet of 146,000. Long took his time before calling, and then the {9-Hearts} hit the felt on the river. Rettenmaier again took a couple minutes before acting. Once he made his decision, he announced, “All-in.” The bet was 450,000, and Long elected to fold, yielding the pot to Rettenmaier.

Potter Doubles Through Johnson

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Jason Potter moved all in for just under 200,000 from the hijack, and Chris Johnson called from the cutoff. Everyone else folded.

Potter: {a-Clubs}{10-Hearts}
Johnson: {k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}

The flop came down {9-Spades}{10-Clubs}{2-Hearts}, leaving Potter with top pair but having to fade two overs and a gutshot. A blank {9-Diamonds} hit the turn, and we went to the river with the same sweat. The dealer burned and turned a {10-Spades}, and Potter doubled up with his boat.

Erik Backlund Eliminated By Ryan Olson

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Ryan Olson opened from the hijack and Eric Backlund three-bet to 75,000 from the small blind. Olson called to see a {10-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} and after Backlund bet 140,000, Olson shoved for 415,000. Backlund called all in for just a little bit less.

Olson: {A-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Backlund: {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}

The {9-Clubs} turn changed nothing, but Olson caught the {10-Spades} on river to make trip tens to score the elimination.

Kings Serve O'Neal

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Luca Moschitta raised to 36,000 from middle position, then Brendon O'Neal reraised all in from the hijack seat for his last 165,000 or so. It folded back around to Moschitta who called the shove, and he winced a little as he saw O'Neal table his {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}.

Moschitta was drawing live, though, with his {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}, and after the {5-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} he called for a trey to give him a winning wheel. But the turn was the {5-Clubs} and river the {5-Hearts}, and O'Neal earned the double-up.
