Cantu Doubles Up Silverman

Level 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

With the board reading {5-Clubs}{8-Spades}{10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} Brandon Cantu bet 18,000. Steven Silverman reraised to 48,000. This put Cantu into the tank. After about two minutes of thinking, Cantu finally moved all in. Silverman instantly called and showed {J-Hearts}{9-Spades} for a turned straight.

Cantu angrily turned over his {10-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for two pair.

The river was the {8-Diamonds} and Cantu was forced to ship over chips to Silverman.

"Jesus Christ," Cantu said after the hand as the dealer was counting out stacks.

Drinan Eliminated

Level 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Connor Drinan and Simeon Naydenov got their chips in the middle pre-flop. Drinan had {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}, and Naydenov turned over {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}. It was a coin-flip situation, but when the flop fell {6-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}, Naydenov took a big lead, and Drinan would need either an 8 or running straight cards. He received neither on the turn and river, and has been eliminated from the tournament. Naydenov will now play Mandeep Narang heads-up to see who will advance from their table.

"Zugwat" Moving On

Level 17 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

We missed the hand but Steven Silverman was kind enough to inform us of the last hand of his heads up.

Apparently with the board reading {q-}{8-}{5-} Silverman check raised Cantu to 23,500 with {K-}{Q-}. Cantu moved all in, and Silverman called. Cantu was holding {J-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and caught a few outs with the {10-Clubs} on the turn, but the river was the {6-} eliminating Cantu from the tournament.

Silverman will be back tomorrow for the final table.

O'Brien Doubles, Still Short

Level 17 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Preflop Dan O'Brien moved all in with {J-Spades}{7-Spades}. Cliff Josephy called with {K-Hearts}{6-Hearts}.

The board rolled out {5-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} giving O'Brien the lead. The turn was the {10-Hearts} though, and gave Josephy even more outs for the win. But the {4-Spades} on the river was not one of those outs and O'Brien picked up a little breathing room but Josephy still has a monster chip lead.

Narang Doubles

Level 17 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Simeon Naydenov raised to 10,000 from the button, and Mandeep Narang called. On the {10-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{3-Hearts} flop, Narang checked and Naydenov bet 9,000. Narang quickly check-raised all-in for 111,500. Naydenov thought for a minute, then called with {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}. Narang tabled {9-Hearts}{6-Hearts} for a flush draw. Narang loved the turn card, the {2}, and Naydenov was drawing dead.

Tim West Advances

Level 17 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Tim West has eliminated Jan Kasten and won his table. According to West, on the final hand, he raised to 8,500, and Kasten 3-bet to 22,500. West then raised all-in and Kasten called for his last 190,000. West sheepishly turned over {3-Hearts}{6-Hearts}, and was behind Kasten's {j-Hearts}{j-}. The flop changed matters, though, coming {10-}{3-}{6-}, giving West two pair and the lead. The turn and river were no help to Kasten, and West now advances to the final table.

Evan Silverstein Almost Advances, Then Advances

Level 17 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

On the first hand Silverstein and Sammartino got their money in with the board reading {7-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{5-Hearts}. Silverstein was holding {7-Spades}{7-Hearts} against Sammartino's {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}. The river though wasn't one of Sammartino's outs, it was the {7-Clubs} giving Silverstein quads.

"That's it, I've got him covered," Silverstein said after the hand.

But Silverstein was wrong, After the hand the dealer counted the chips and Sammartino had more chips, but only by 2,000.

Sammartino was able to double once, but his {7-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} wasn't able to catch up to Silverstein's {10-Clubs}{5-Spades} for a second double.

Silverstein will return will the rest of the table winners tomorrow at the final table.
