Erick Lindgren and Connor Drinan Win Entry into the Big One for One Drop!

Level 20 : 60,000/120,000, 15,000 ante

The 2014 installment of the $1,000,000 Big One for One Drop now has two new entrants joining the 41 already confirmed players with Erick Lindgren and Connor Drinan now holding a ticket to Sunday's Big One for One Drop.

With the Big One for One Drop steadily filling up, one seat was already reserved for the winner of Saturday night's $25,300 Big One for One Drop satellite. However with multiple reentries and sub-satellite feeders, the field of 90 players created a $2,250,000 prizepool which would mean two Big One for One Drop seats would be up for grabs along with $250,000 in cash.

Only 3 players who have already confirmed their seat took part in today's tournament - Paul Newey, Fabian Quoss and Daniel Colman - but a plethora of notables ranging from online heroes to multi-bracelet winners all took a chance at parlaying $25,300 into a Big One for One Drop seat. The likes of Roger Sippl, Josh Arieh, John Hennigan and Nick Schulman all fired multiple bullets while players such as Faraz Jaka, Galen Hall, Olivier Busquet, Ole Schemion and Jason Somerville didn't last too long once they eventually took their seat.

With a turbo structure, it wouldn't be long until we were down to the final table of eight as Connor Drinan held the chip lead over JC Tran and Nam Le. Le doubled Scott Vener up and then was out in 8th his {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} couldn't win a race against Joe Hachem. David Goldberg fell in 7th before Vener lost a huge race holding {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs} against Drinan's pocket jacks to give Drinan half the chips in play. The 2005 World Champion in Hachem would then be crippled to an ante when he ran into Tran's pocket aces before exiting the next hand to leave four players fighting on the bubble.

Having been one of the chip leaders for the majority of the day leading up to the final table, Jason Koon would unfortunately become the bubble boy when shipped all in with a weak ace and ran into Tran's dominating {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}. With Tran, Drinan and Lindgren now having $250,000 locked up, chips moved back and forth before Lindgren soared to the chip lead when his {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} held up against Drinan's {A-Clubs}{8-Hearts}. Just a few hands later Lindgren would shove the small blind with {A-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} and Tran would snap him off with {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades} to be in great shape until the board ran out {A-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} to see Tran take 2nd place for $250,000 while leaving Lindgren and Drinan with $1,000,000 seats into the Big One for One Drop.

With Lindgren and Drinan now the most recent entrants into the Big One for One Drop, there are just 14 spots remaining until it is capped out.

The PokerNews Live Reporting Team will be providing exclusive live coverage of all the $1,000,000 Big One for One Drop action from 1:00 p.m. (PDT) this Sunday, so make sure to stay tuned right here to PokerNews.com!

JC Tran Eliminated in 3rd Place ($250,000)

Level 20 : 60,000/120,000, 15,000 ante
JC Tran - 3rd place
JC Tran - 3rd place

With the action on Erick Lindgren in the small blind, he moved all in and JC Tran called from the big blind for his last 1,185,000.

Lindgren: {A-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}
Tran: {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}

With Tran in great shape to double having Lindgren drawing to three outs, the dealer spread a {A-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{7-Clubs} flop to produce gasps from the many onlookers on the rail.

Now needing to spike a two-outer, Tran would see the {3-Hearts} and {4-Hearts} land on the turn and river to end his run in 3rd place for a $250,000 payday.

Jason Koon Eliminated in 4th Place

Level 19 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante
Jason Koon - 4th place
Jason Koon - 4th place

From under the gun, Jason Koon moved all in for 775,000 and JC Tran called from the big blind.

Koon: {A-Spades}{4-Diamonds}
Tran: {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}

With Koon in dominated shape, the {K-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} flop didn't help, but the {5-Clubs} on the turn now gave him an additional four outs to a six to stay alive.

Unfortunately for Koon, the river landed the {10-Spades} and he was sent to the rail in 4th place leaving the remaining three players guaranteed a $250,000 payday.

Vener Delivers Rheem a Vicious Beat

Level 9 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante
Chino Rheem
Chino Rheem

Scott Vener opened to 6,000 only to have Chino Rheem three-bet him next to act to 14,000. Vener made the call as the dealer fanned a {2-Spades}{3-Spades}{5-Diamonds} flop with Vener checking.

Rheem continued for 20,000, and after nearly two minutes in the tank, Vener moved all in for 85,700. Rheem deliberated for a few moments before calling off his 80,600 total.

Vener: {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}
Rheem: {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}

With Rheem in great shape to double, the {K-Hearts} on the turn changed little, but it would be the devastating {9-Diamonds} on the river that would send Rheem to the rail as Vener climbed to 201,600 in chips.

Who Will Win Their Seat into the $1,000,000 Big One for One Drop?

Antonio Esfandiari

Welcome back to the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino and the 2014 World Series of Poker for the $25,300 Big One for One Drop Satellite!

There are only a handful of events remaining on the WSOP schedule, but aside from the marquee Main Event, everyone's eyes are locked onto the Event #57: The $1,000,000 Big One for One Drop that will kick off tomorrow. Back in 2012 the inaugural Big One for One Drop attracted a capped field of 48 players that saw Antonio Esfandiari capture the massive $18,346,673 first prize after beating Sam Trickett heads-up.

This year sees the cap increased to 56 players, and along with it comes an almost guaranteed $20,000,000 first prize as the 41 already confirmed players will likely hit the cap in the next 24 hours as many players are still on the fence about whether or not to play while also relying on some last minute backers.

Back in 2012 on the eve of the inaugural Big One for One Drop, the WSOP ran a $25,300 One Drop Mega Satellite that attracted 96 players and formed a $2,400,000 prizepool. A plethora of notables took their chance to win a 'cheap' seat into the Big One for One Drop, but once the dust settled, it would be Gus Hansen collecting one of the last seats into the tournament as Shaun Deeb collected $1,000,000 in tournament lammers (and the first name on the alternate list) while Jason Somerville collected $400,000 for his third place finish.

With a bigger field allowed for this year's Big One for One Drop, another huge field is expected for this Big One for One Drop Satellite as player's look to try and parlay $25,300 into over $2,000,000 - roughly a 79,000% ROI.

The PokerNews Live Reporting Team will be providing extensive live updates from the $25,300 Big One for One Drop Satellite once play begins at 6:00 p.m. (PDT) live from the 2014 World Series of Poker!
