Sowers Doubles

Level 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Mike Sowers pushed in from the big blind for some 60k following a Frank Debus opening raise.

Debut made the call with {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts} but was well behind Sowers' {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}. The {q-Spades}{j-Hearts}{9-Clubs} flop did Sowers a solid. After the {3-Clubs} turn and {8-Clubs} river, he doubled up.

Nothing New for Natasha

Level 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Natasha Barbour was telling Russell Thomas that she liked Jonathan Little’s poker strategy books, but there wasn’t anything really startling new on the subject in the last ten years, so Thomas put that theory to the test with a 2x open to 6,000. Barbour moved all in from the big blind and had Thomas covered.

Thomas folded and Barbour spun round the {10-}{10-} to show him before passing her cards to the dealer. “We were flipping.” Thomas said.

Three Barrels Gets It Done for Pauli

Level 15 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Sebastian Pauli looked up from the book he has been reading to raise from the small blind to 6,200. Raj Vohra made the call in the big blind. The two players saw a flop of {5-Spades}{4-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}.

Pauli continued for 6,500 and Vohra made the call. The turn card was the {q-Spades} and Pauli continued the story with a bet of 11,500. Again, Vohra made the call. The river card was the {6-Clubs}. A third barrel of 30,000 from Pauli had Vohra looking at his remaining stack and making the fold.

Viet Jammed

Level 15 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Viet Vo just rode two jacks to a huge double up.

He raised and found a frisky Frank Debus willing to three-bet with a weak but suited ace. Vo raised again, but Debus made the call and when he picked up a flush draw on the flop, he put Vo to the test for all his chips.

Vo made the call for his tournament life and the jacks held on to push him over the 200k mark.
