At 1 p.m. PT on Saturday afternoon, 209 poker players returned to their seats in the Amazon Room of the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino all sharing the common goal of making it into the money and then progressing to the tournament’s third day of action.

The dream of cashing was dashed for 92 players who fell by the wayside before the money was awarded. Some of those who fell short included Tristan Wade, Sunny Chattha, Brent Hanks, Gordon Vayo, and Nick Rampone.

When the money bubble did burst, it was thanks to Oleg Badmayev and his huge call with a pair of threes on an {8-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{10-Spades} board, at it opened the floodgates for a surge of eliminations. Some of the big names earning some money from Event #29 included recent bracelet winner Kyle Cartwright, Amanda Musumeci, Tony Dunst, Griffin Benger, Will "The Thrill" Failla, Scotty Nguyen, Roberto Romanello, David "Doc" Sands, and former Main Event champion Jerry Yang.

When the tournament director called time on proceedings, after 10 hour-long levels, only 20 players remained in contention for the $536,768 first-place prize and the WSOP bracelet that comes with it. Leading those 20 back into battle at 1 p.m. PT on Sunday afternoon will be Jamie Armstrong, who ended the night with a tournament-leading stack of 765,000. Hot on Armstrong’s heels was Barry Hutter, who has been among the chip leaders since this tournament started. Hutter will begin Day 3 with 731,000 chips.

Other big stacks and notables included Chris Johnson (665,000), Sam Cohen (654,000), Rep Porter (463,000), Matt Salsberg (447,000), David Benefield, (355,000), Justin Oliver (284,000), and William Reynolds (223,000).

The PokerNews Live Reporting team will be on the ground throughout Day 3 as the tournament plays down to a champion, and you won't want to miss any of the upcoming action.

Isaac Baron Eliminated in 21st Place ($16,220)

Level 20 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Isaac Baron - 21st Place
Isaac Baron - 21st Place

With a board reading {5-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} and a considerable amount in the pot, former November Niner David Benefield got moved all in and Isaac Baron, who barely had the small stack, quickly called off.

Baron confidently tabled {j-}{5-} for a full house, and he seemed a bit shell shocked when Benefield rolled over the {k-Spades}{5-Clubs} for a bigger boat.

Baron was in disbelief as he collected his backpack and exited the tournament floor in 21st place for $16,220.

Lawrence Beach Eliminated in 22nd Place ($16,220)

Level 20 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Lawrence Beach - 22nd Place
Lawrence Beach - 22nd Place

Lawrence Beach got his stack all in preflop holding {a-}{a-} and was in great shape to double against Rep Porter, who held the {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}.

Lady luck had other plans though as the flop came down {8-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{5-Hearts} to give Porter a set. Neither the {3-Diamonds} turn nor {10-Hearts} river helped Beach, and he had to settle for 22nd place and $16,220 in prize money.

Arshad Siddiqui Eliminated in 23rd Place ($16,220)

Level 20 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Sheddy Siddiqui
Sheddy Siddiqui

The action folded to Sheddy Siddiqui in the small blind and he ended up all-in versus Sam Cohen in the big blind. It was a cooler of a hand because Siddiqui turned over {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} and Cohen had him drawing to two outs with the {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}.

No help arrived for Siddiqui on the {3-Spades}{7-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{7-Spades} board and we're down to 22 players in the tournament.

Daniel Strelitz Eliminated in 24th Place ($16,220)

Andy Pham, who was down to only 800 chips earlier today, moved all-in from the button with what turned out to be {K-Spades}{J-Spades} and Daniel Strelitz looked him up in the big blind with the dominated {K-Hearts}{9-Hearts}.

A final board reading {5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{7-Clubs} left Pham's jack-kicker to play and Strelitz headed to the exits to collect 24th place money.

David Nicholson Eliminated in 26th Place ($16,220)

Level 20 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
David Nicholson - 26th Place
David Nicholson - 26th Place

Action folded to David Nicholson on the button and he raised to 18,000. Jamie Armstrong was in the small blind and pushed back with a three-bet to 50,000, which prompted the big to fold. Nicholson opted for a four-bet to 115,000 and then snap-called off for 340,000 after Armstrong moved all in.

Armstrong: {a-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}
Nicholson: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

It appeared Armstrong had picked a bad spot, but this is an elimination post so you already know there was some tomfoolery in the hand. The {8-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{3-Hearts} flop was harmless enough to Nicholson, but the {2-Hearts} turn posed a threat as Armstrong picked up a flush draw.

Much to Nicholson's dismay, the {8-Hearts} spiked on the river to give Armstrong the said flush. Nicholson exits in 26th place and will take home $16,220.
