"Why Double Up When You Can Triple Up"

Level 17 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

A short-stacked William Reynolds moved all in under the gun for his last 14,500 and David "The Dragon" Pham called right behind. Ivan Freitez then called from the big blind, and that prompted Reynolds to look on the bright side.

"Why double up when you can triple up," he said.

When the flop came down {2-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}, Freitez checked and then folded when Pham bet 15,000.

Pham: {a-Clubs}{3-Clubs}
Reynolds: {a-Spades}{9-Hearts}

Both players had flopped an ace, but it'd be Reynolds' kicker that would earn him the triple after the {7-Spades} appeared on the turn followed by the {10-Hearts} on the river.

Cohen Scores a Huge Double

Level 17 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Sam Cohen has been given a reward for her grit and determination in this event, a huge double up to over 200,000 chips.

Ben Warrington raised to 9,000 from the cutoff and Cohen responded by three-betting all-in for 93,000 from the button. Ryan Laplante stepped out of the way in the small blind, but Daniel Strelitz re-shoved from the big blind. Warrington folded and the cards of the all-in players revealed.

Cohen: {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}
Strlitz: {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}

One of tournament poker's many coinflips was what stood between Cohen and the exit door. The {Q-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{8-Hearts} flop was safe for her, as was the {2-Clubs} turn and when the river brought the {Q-Clubs} and Cohen scored a huge double up.

Cohen has played a patient game, picking spots to push her chips into the middle and it's finally paid off.

Big Laplante Bluff Gets Through

Level 17 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Ryan Laplante raised to 9,000 from his seat in early position only to see a new comer to the table, Daniel Strelitz, three-bet to 23,500 from the next seat across. The other players folded back around to Laplante who stuck in a raise to 42,000. Strelitz took a look at his cards before calling the additional 18,500.

A king-high {K-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{6-Clubs} flop saw Laplante lead for 25,000 and Strelitz quickly released his hand.

Laplante turned over {Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for complete air and raked in a nice, chunky pot.

Winter is Not Coming

Level 17 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Jamie Armstrong opened for 8,000 only to have Sean Winter three-bet him to 18,500. Action folded back to Armstrong and he asked how much Winter had started the hand. Winter replied with around 110K, at which point Armstrong announced that he was all in. Winter snap-called off.

Winter: {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}
Armstrong: {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}

Getting it in good is one thing, getting it to hold up is another. That's something Winter experienced when the flop fell {10-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} to give Armstrong a pair of aces and the lead. The {Q-Diamonds} turn improved Armstrong to two pair, and that meant Winter needed a nine and a nine only on the river to stay alive. Unfortunately for him, it wasn't in the cards as the {5-Hearts} blanked.

Simple Pot For Warrington; Three-Bet Shove for Salsberg

Level 17 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Ben Warrington opened to 8,000 from early position and Matt Salsberg sat for close to 45 seconds before deciding to fold from the big blind. Isaac baron peeked at his hole cards, called and the dealer spread the {K-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{6-Clubs} flop.

Baron checked, Warrington made a continuation bet and Baron mucked

The next hand, Sam Cohen raised to 8,000 from early position and the action folded around to Salsberg, who was now seated on the button. Salsberg reraised to 18,500 and after assessing all of her option, Cohen settled on a fold.

One for the 2007 WSOP Main Event Champ

Level 17 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

2007 World Series of Poker Main Event champ Jerry Yang opened for 11,000 under the gun and received a call from Ben Warrington on the button. Ryan Laplante then called the additional 7,000 from the big blind and three players saw a flop of {j-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}.

Laplante checked, Yang bet 21,000, and Warrington got out of the way. Laplante did the same and Yang won the pot on the flop. Not much of a hand but it gave us a good excuse to update you on their chip counts.
