Event #33 Gets Underway as Series Reaches Halfway Point

The 2014 World Series of Poker continues today in Las Vegas with Event #33, another one of the highly popular $1,000 no-limit hold'em tournaments, as the Series reaches the halfway point of the 65 scheduled events.

Amateurs and pros alike will be battling it out over the felt for the next three days. So far this year's World Series, it has been the pros who have come out on top, demonstrating that although luck plays a part in tournament poker, skill and experience are still the two biggest factors in determining champions.

Last year in this event, Chris Dombrowski topped a field of 2,108 to take home $346,332, and he is likely to be back again today to defend his title having already cashed in Event #26.

Day 1 starts at 12 p.m. PT, and the players will be playing 11 one-hour levels. After the sixth level, there will be a 90-minute dinner break. Registration is open until the start of level 7, so expect numbers to climb throughout the day.

Players begin with 3,000 in tournament chips with the blinds kicking off at 25/25.
