Denisov Rolls to Lead

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 1,500 ante
Alexander Denisov grabbed the lead.
Alexander Denisov grabbed the lead.

Nabih Helmi bet into two opponents on sixth street.

Helmi: {x-}{x-}/{8-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{6-Spades}{2-Clubs}
Aleksandr Denisov: {x-}{x-}/{4-Spades}{10-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}
William Thompson: {x-}{x-}/{k-Spades}{2-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}

Denisov raised it up, and Thompson cold-called behind. Helmi called as well, and Denisov kept the betting lead on the end, getting two more calls. He showed {a-}{3-}{9-} for a wheel. Thompson stared at {a-}{a-}{5-} for a bit before throwing it down on his board, while Helmi had a set of sixes with {6-}{6-}{9-}.

Denisov Pushes Out Smith

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 1,500 ante

Mallory Smith completed and Aleksandr Denisov called as Smith bet fourth and Denisov called. On fifth, Denisov bet and Smith check-called as that same action was repeated on sixth.

Smith: {X-}{X-} / {A-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{2-Hearts} / {X-}
Denisov: {X-}{X-} / {K-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} / {X-}

On seventh, Denisov bet out and Smith tank-folded.

Smith Orders a Double-Double

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 1,500 ante

Mallory Smith completed and then got it all in when Steve Sung raised to isolate him.

Smith: {6-Hearts}{4-Spades}/{6-Clubs}
Sung: {8-Spades}{2-Diamonds}/{8-Hearts}

Smith caught two threes to make sixes up, while Sung failed to improve.

A couple of hands later, Nabih Helmi completed with {9-Spades}, and Smith raised with {j-Spades}. Helmi made the call, and Smith bet fourth when he caught {a-Hearts}. Helmi got the {6-Spades}, and he called. The rest of the money went in when both players caught good on fifth:

Smith: {a-Spades}{10-Spades}/{j-Spades}{a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}
Helmi: {q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}/{9-Spades}{6-Spades}{9-Hearts}

Helmi needed to fill up and have Smith not do the same, but Smith ran a flush with {7-Spades} and {q-Spades} while Helmi got bricks in the {5-Diamonds} and {8-Spades}.

Kenney Gets Full

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

After losing a hefty pot to a set of aces held by Aleksandr Denisov, Bryn Kenney struck back against William Thompson.

On fifth street:

Kenney: {x-}{x-}/{8-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Thompson: {x-}{x-}/{a-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}

Thompson bet and got raised, then came back with three bets. Kenney called, and the two checked through sixth street and seventh street Kenney picked up the {8-Clubs} and Thompson the {7-Spades}.

Kenney showed {10-}{9-}{8-} for eights full of tens, and he took down the pot.

Keep Playing Boys

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Although some players believed that play would stop once the final table was reached, the Tournament Director has just made an announcement on the matter.

The plan is to play until the completion of level 20 - which is in two more levels time - or until just six players remain.

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Daniel Negreanu - 10th place
Daniel Negreanu - 10th place

Left with just an ante, Daniel Negreanu was all in and Alex Kravchenko had the bring-in. Eric Buchman completed and Kravchenko folded as Negreanu and Buchman's board ran out as follows:

Negreanu: {10-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} / {Q-Clubs}{7-Spades}{K-Hearts}{4-Hearts} / {9-Hearts}
Buchman: {8-Clubs}{6-Clubs} / {6-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} / {6-Spades}

Although Negreanu was drawing live until seventh, Buchman squeezed first and improved to trip sixes leaving Negreanu drawing dead as he collected $8,504 for his 10th place finish.
