Cloutier opted to go with his pocket pair, but he was in trouble as Engels held a bigger one. The flop was disaster for Cloutier as a six would no longer win it for him. He needed either running sixes, a seven with a big card, or some other miracle. The odds were strongly against him, but the turn gave him some hope as another ace or the case seven would chop the pot.
