Silverman Picks Up Cowboys

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

A preflop raising war resulted in Steven Silverman getting his stack of 42,400 all in against Thomas Paul.

Paul: {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
Silverman: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}

It was a great spot for the man that won the inaugural World Poker Tour Alpha8 event last year, and he was rewarded with a double after the board ran out a safe {7-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{3-Hearts}.

Baldwin Hits an Ace from Space

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Eric Baldwin opened with a raise from early position and was met by a three-bet to 9,400 by Chris Johnson in the hijack. Action folded back to Baldwin and he opted to move all in for 49,600. Johnson asked for a count and made the call.

Johnson: {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Baldwin: {a-Spades}{10-Spades}

The {2-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} flop wasn't much help to Baldwin, and the {3-Hearts} turn meant he needed an ace and an ace only on the river to survive. Wouldn't you know it, the dealer burned and put out the {A-Hearts}! Johnson was left with just 5,000 after the hand, and that disappeared a short time later.

Meanwhile, a short-stacked Heinz Kamutzki has been eliminated from the tournament.

Like a Rock

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

After a player opened and Daniel Engels three-bet, Rock Cloutier four-bet jammed from late position. The initial raiser folded and Engels made a quick call.

Cloutier: {6-Hearts}{6-Spades}
Engels: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}

Cloutier opted to go with his pocket pair, but he was in trouble as Engels held a bigger one. The {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{7-Spades} flop was disaster for Cloutier as a six would no longer win it for him. He needed either running sixes, a seven with a big card, or some other miracle. The odds were strongly against him, but the {A-Spades} turn gave him some hope as another ace or the case seven would chop the pot.

Unfortunately for him, it wasn't in the cards as the {J-Clubs} blanked on the river.

Philbort's Not Ready to Go Quite Yet

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

After the player in the cutoff opened for 3,200, Philipp "Philbort" Gruissem three-bet jammed from the button for 16,100 total. The blinds both folded and the cutoff made a quick call.

Gruissem: {k-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Cutoff: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}

Gruissem was behind, but not after the flop came down {2-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{6-Hearts}. The German managed to pair his king and took a hammerlock on the hand. Neither the {7-Clubs} turn nor {8-Diamonds} river changed a thing, and Gruissem doubled through.

Stein Chips Up Through Trickett

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Action folded to the player on the button, and he raised to 3,200. After Sam Stein called from the small blind, Sam Trickett reraised from the big blind to 8,800. The player on the button and Stein both called to take a flop with Trickett.

The flop was {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}, and Stein checked. After Trickett fired 13,500, the player on the button folded. Stein had a little under 60,000 behind and raised to 28,800. Trickett gave it up, and Stein won the pot.
