Kenney Scoops Porter

Level 5 : 1,000/2,000, 200 ante

Bryn Kenney: {x-}{x-} / {7-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{j-Spades}{2-Spades} / {x-}
Rep Porter: {x-}{x-} / {3-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{8-Hearts} / {x-}

Porter check-called a bet on fifth street, then check-called two more on sixth and seventh.

"Flush," Kenney announced, tabling {q-Spades}{5-Spades}{3-Spades}.

Porter looked across at his opponent's hand, then mucked his hand. Kenney chipped up to 55,000, while Porter slipped to 27,500.

Hachem Takes a Hit

Level 5 : 1,000/2,000, 200 ante

Joe Hachem is off to a rather rough start here in his first event at the 2014 WSOP.

Hachem: {x-}{x-} / {j-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{8-Spades}{3-Spades} / {x-}
Opponent: {x-}{x-} / {4-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} / {x-}

The 2005 WSOP Main Event winner threw bets out street after street, only to find his opponent raise him on sixth. He made the call and did so again on seventh, but mucked claiming jacks and eights when his opponent showed a jack-high straight, claiming he had improved from a ten-high straight on the river.

Bob Saget

Level 5 : 1,000/2,000, 200 ante

Opponent: {x-}{x-} / {7-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{k-Spades} / {x-}
Robert Mizrachi: {x-}{x-} / {5-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{3-Hearts} / {x-}

Mizrachi's opponent called bets on fifth, sixth, and seventh street. The South Florida turned over {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{2-Spades} for a full house, and his opponent mucked his holdings.

"A full house?" Richard Sklar asked, incredulously.

Mizrachi offered a simple, wry smile as he raked in the pot.

Various Counts

Level 5 : 1,000/2,000, 200 ante

You Bet You Win

Level 5 : 1,000/2,000, 200 ante

A rather quiet Phil Laak has bombed his way up to a 60,000-chip stack.

Laak: {x-}{x-} / {q-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{7-Spades} / {x-}
Opponent: {x-}{x-} / {4-Hearts}{q-Spades}{3-Clubs}{k-Hearts} / {x-}

Laak fired away on every street he could, eventually forcing his foe to fold on seventh. After pushing up to a high water mark above 80,000, he's dipped a little, but managed to right the ship by collecting this pot.

Do You Remember?

Level 5 : 1,000/2,000, 200 ante

Phil Ivey glanced over at Bryn Kenney telling him he can't remember a single tournament where they have sat together and he had more chips than him.

"After you got me in London," retorted Kenney, retelling the tale of Ivey barreling into his kings with {a-}{8-} and finding an ace on the river to send him broke.

"I didn't think you had it," Ivey laughed.

Yu Scoops

Level 5 : 1,000/2,000, 200 ante

Ben Yu: {x-}{x-} / {2-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{6-Spades} / {x-}
Opponent: {x-}{x-} / {7-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{j-Spades} / {x-}

Yu check-called a bet on fourth street, then when his opponent made a pair of sevens on fifth he led out. Yu again called.

The player slowed down, check-calling bets from Yu on sixth and seventh, and Yu scooped the pot with {5-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for a straight and a six-five low.

Grinding

Level 5 : 1,000/2,000, 200 ante

Michael Mizrachi has grinded his way up to 40,000 after registering late.

Mizrachi: {x-}{x-} / {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{3-Hearts} / {x-}
Opponent: {x-}{x-} / {6-Clubs}{4-Spades}{2-Hearts}{10-Clubs} / {x-}

Mizrachi check-called bets on every street before leading out on seventh and forcing his opponent to fold.

He scooped the decent pot flashing a flush and his opponent claimed to have a pair, straight draw and six-low draw that missed.

Elezra Hanging Tough

Level 5 : 1,000/2,000, 200 ante

Eli Elezra: {x-}{x-} / {k-Clubs}{2-Spades}{9-Spades}{5-Hearts} / {x-}
Jonathan Duhamel: {x-}{x-} / {j-Clubs}{5-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} / {x-}
Opponent: {x-}{x-} / {a-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{8-Clubs} / {x-}

The action checked to Duhamel on fifth street, and he bet. Both of his opponents called, and the player with an ace showing led out on sixth. Elezra raised, leaving a single grey T100 chip behind, and both Duhamel and the bettor called.

Elezra committed his last 100 on seventh, both players called, and he showed {k-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for kings and nines. The third player revealed {6-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{4-Clubs} for a low, and Duhamel mucked.

The 2013 bracelet winner is still short, but Elezra is still kicking with 12,600 chips.

Thirsty?

Level 5 : 1,000/2,000, 200 ante

Todd Brunson is sitting with no less than two cups of ice, two waters, a massive Big Gulp-style soda and a rather large Starbucks coffee in front of him.

"Can you get a penalty for having too many drinks at the table?" he asked with a wry smile.
