Early Lead For Smith

Level 1 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante

John Smith, the man who busted Phil Ivey late last night in the last-to-complete match of the previous round, is off to a great start against heads-up specialist Ankush Mandavia.

We just saw a {5-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{10-Hearts} board on the table when Mandavia called Smith's 37,000-chip bet. Smith tabled {J-Spades}{J-Clubs} and Mandavia tapped the table in defeat.

Negreanu Makes a Straight

Level 1 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante

Tommy Chen raised to 9,000 from the button and Daniel Negreanu called. The flop brought out {Q-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{4-Hearts} and Negreanu check-called another 9,000.

The turn was the {J-Clubs} and Negreanu checked again to Chen who bet 22,000. Negreanu paused before making the call, then on the river the {8-Hearts} popped up.

Negreanu checked and then quickly called Chen's 62,000-chip bet. Chen tabled {Q-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} and that was no good against the Canadian's {10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for a rivered straight.
