Mizrachi Hits One Million

Level 25

Omaha 8

The trend in game selection has been Aaron Schaff consistently choosing pot-limit Omaha while Robert Mizrachi switches it up with a different game each time. He recently selected Omaha 8.

Schaff had the button and raised. Mizrachi flatted and the flop came down {A-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{K-Clubs}. Mizrachi check-called a bet and the {9-Diamonds} fell on the turn. Both players checked to see the {10-Clubs} finish off the board. They both checked the final street.

"Ace-jack," said Mizrachi, tabling {A-Spades}{J-Clubs}{3-Spades}{3-Diamonds}. Schaff mucked his hand and Mizrachi picked up the pot.

Mizrachi Takes Lead After Two Omaha Pots

Level 25
Robert Mizrachi now has the chip lead.

Pot-Limit Omaha

Aaron Schaff selected PLO.

"You know, I won a bracelet in PLO," Robert Mizrachi said.

"Yeah," Schaff responded. "I wasn't playing that event."

"You were probably still in high school."

The banter was more exciting than the hands that round.

Limit Omaha Eight-or-Better

Schaff raised from the button in Mizrachi's game selection, and Mizrachi three-bet. Schaff called, and the flop came {j-Spades}{9-Spades}{5-Spades}. Mizrachi bet, and Schaff raised. Mizrachi made it three bets, and Schaff called. Mizrachi fired bullets on the {a-Clubs} turn and {8-Clubs} river, but Schaff mucked on the end, showing {a-}{5-}{5-} for a set.

Pot-Limit Omaha

Back on Schaff's game, he potted out of the big blind after Mizrachi limped the button, and Mizrachi called to see a {9-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{7-Spades} flop. Both players checked, and Schaff bet 45,000 on the {a-Hearts} turn. Mizrachi quickly called, and Schaff checked the {a-Diamonds} river. Mizrachi fired 120,000, and Schaff folded.

Razz

"Why don't we just rotate them?" asked Robert Mizrachi before selecting the game, suggesting to go through each game instead of sorting through the plaques and choosing a new game every two hands. "It's easier that way."

Schaff shook his head.

"No," Schaff calmly replied. "Maybe in a little bit if I get bored. Let's play razz."

Mizrachi: {x-}{x-} / {3-}{9-}{4-}{A-}
Schaff: {x-}{x-} / {7-}{6-}{9-}{5-}

Schaff brought in and Mizrachi completed with a trey. Schaff called to see fourth street. Both players checked fourth and Mizrachi led out with a bet on fifth. Schaff called only to have Mizrachi lead into him once again on sixth. Schaff opted to let it go and Mizrachi took down the pot.

Shane Abbott Eliminated in 3rd Place ($58,414)

No-Limit Hold'em

Playing Shane Abbott's choice, the "Cadillac of Poker," Robert Mizrachi opened for 21,000 on the button. Abbott jammed for roughly 165,000 in the small blind, and Mizrachi snap-called, throwing {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades} into the middle. Abbott's {k-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} needed a lot of help, and the {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{4-Clubs} flop was nothing but bad news. Even worse: the {a-Clubs} turn to give Mizrachi quads. The {7-Spades} river was a mere footnote, and the man affectionately called "Moose" by his friends was banished back to the woods.

Bill Chen Eliminated in 4th Place ($38,735); Daniel Idema Eliminated in 5th Place ($26,444)

Pot-Limit Omaha

Aaron Schaff made his customary selection: PLO.

Schaff opened under the gun for 23,000 during one of the hands, and Bill Chen called. Daniel Idema came along in the big blind and they took in a flop: {8-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}. Idema moved all in for about 20,000, and Schaff potted. Chen shoved all in behind that, and Schaff called.

Idema: {9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{4-Spades}{2-Hearts}
Schaff: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{10-Spades}{3-Hearts}
Chen: {10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{8-Spades}{6-Spades}

Idema had flopped an open-ender, while Schaff held tens up. Chen, meanwhile, had flopped better two pair along with a gutshot. The turn was an {a-Clubs}, giving Schaff the lead with top two heading into the final card: {9-Clubs}. Three pair did Chen no good, and Idema had failed to hit either of his straight draws.

Schaff's double knockout means he now has a massive lead three-handed.

Chen Over Idema

Level 24

Badacey

Daniel Idema selected badacey.

On the final hand before the break, Idema opened from the button and Bill Chen called from the big blind. Both players pulled two cards on the first draw and Chen check-called a bet. For the second draw, Chen once again took two while Idema opted for just one.

Chen checked, Idema bet, and Chen called. Both players pulled one new card on the last draw and Chen led out with a bet. Idema called and Chen fanned {7-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{A-Spades} for a seventy-six and a six badugi. He scooped the pot and left Idema with just 35,000 in chips.

Idema Barrels Schaff Out

Level 24

Limit Omaha Eight-or-Better

Shane Abbott selected Omaha Eight-or-Better.

Daniel Idema opened for a raise in the small blind in one of the hands, and Aaron Schaff defended the big blind. Schaff called a bet on the {2-Spades}{k-Hearts}{8-Spades} flop, and the {10-Clubs} turned. Idema bet again, and Schaff got a rough count of his stack before deciding to fold.

Idema showed {a-}{3-}{q-}{j-} with ace-high spades for the nut flush draw, a wrap, and a nut low draw.

Robert Mizrachi commented that Idema only had 13 bad cards in the deck.
