Blomlie's Trips Better; Monnette Doubles

Level 11

Limit Hold'em

Action went bet-raise-reraise at Table 440 on a board of {9-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{3-Spades}{9-Spades}. Mikal Blomlie was doing the betting and three-betting out of the big blind against Derek Updegraff on the button. Updegraff called, and he called another bet on the {10-Clubs} river. Blomlie showed {a-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} for trips.

"I had one of those, too," Updegraff said, throwing the {9-Diamonds} into the muck face up.

Blomlie lost some of it back on the next hand, however, when action folded to him in the small blind and he raised, being called by John Monnette in the big blind. Monnette then raised all in after Blomlie bet the {10-}{5-}{4-} flop, showing that Blomlie's {a-}{j-} had been outflopped by {4-}{2-}. The turn was a {2-} to improve Monnette to two pair, and after a {6-} completed the board Monnette had doubled up.
