Kelly Wins One, Loses One

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante
Dan Kelly
Dan Kelly

Dan Kelly called an open in position and saw a heads-up flop of {7-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{8-Spades}. Checked to Kelley he bet and got a call. The turn was the {10-Spades} and again Kelly bet when checked to and got a call. The river was the {4-Diamonds} and a last bet from Kelly saw his opponent give it up.

Brandon Shack-Harris had just arrived on Kelly’s table and they would tangle in the very next pot as Kelly opened for 6,000 and Shack-Harris made the call in the small blind. The flop was {k-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} and with Shack-Harris to act first the action went check-bet-call. That repeated itself on the turn {10-Spades}. On the river {j-Spades} Shack-Harris led out and Kelly gave the board a suspicious once over before he made the call.

“Ace queen.” Shack-Harris said turning over {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts} for the rivered straight and Kelly mucked his hand.

Teaching Poker to Monkeys

Mike Laing - Teaches Monkeys
Mike Laing - Teaches Monkeys

Mike Laing was enjoying a beer and a JD or two and insisting that, “Poker’s a joke. Give me a fifth of whiskey and I could teach a monkey to play in two weeks. All in.”

His neighbour insisted the whiskey would never last him that long. “Not for me, for the monkey!” he replied.

“That monkey wouldn’t get a sip.”

Shack-Harris Not Going Away

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

Brandon Shack-Harris opened for a raise and Jeff Shulman made it three bets to go. It was folded back to Shack-Harris who made the call. The flop came {J-Hearts}{6-Spades}{2-Clubs} and Shack-Harris check-raised Shulman's bet. Shulman made the call. The turn was the {5-Diamonds} and this time Shack-Harris led out. Shulman decided he no longer wanted to take part in the hand and mucked.

Shack-Harris Finishes Off McClaine

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

There was an open and a Brandon Shack-Harris raise before Maurice McClaine who was on a short stack and had been holding his head in his hands before the dinner break raised it up and got two callers.

The flop was {5-Spades}{a-Spades}{3-Diamonds}. There was a bet and a call before it got to McClaine who check-raised and still got two callers. The turn was the {j-Spades} and Shack-Harris raised his opponent out of the pot to get it heads up with McClaine who was all in.

The river was the {2-Spades}. McClaine turned over {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} for the flopped set but could only say, “Wow.” as Shack-Harris turned over {8-Clubs}{8-Spades} for the rivered flush.
