Romanello Rolling on the River

Level 15 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Roberto Romanello
Roberto Romanello

Roberto Romanello raised from the cutoff to 4,800 and Thomas Harry Jr. called in the big blind. The dealer delivered a {7-Spades}{9-Clubs}{q-Hearts} flop and Harry Jr. open shoved all in. Romanello quickly made the call putting Harry Jr. at risk.

Romanello: {j-Spades}{10-Spades}
Harry Jr. {7-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}

Romanello was behind until the dealer laid out the {j-Hearts} on the turn. Romanello had paired his jack and the {8-Hearts} hit on the river. Harry Jr. had thought he hit two pair and Romanello kindly informed him that he had made a straight with the eight and Harry Jr. exited in 97th place.

Iarussi vs Jung

Level 15 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Alexander Jung raised twice in a row to 5,100, both times getting called by Joseph Iarussi. In the first hand, Jung won the pot with a continuation bet on the {9-Clubs}{A-Clubs}{9-Spades} flop and tried so again one hand later. This time, Iarussi raised the {3-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} flop from 6,200 to 16,200 and grabbed back the previously lost chips.

There are two further notables on the same table as well.

Greenstein's Redraw Hits

Level 15 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

After the {7-Hearts}{6-Spades}{8-Hearts} flop, Barry Greenstein and Pablo Fernandez Campo got their stacks in and both players had flopped the straight. Greenstein had a slight advantage with the {9-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and was at risk for his last 72,800. He indeed improved versus {9-Spades}{10-Spades} thanks to the {Q-Hearts} on the river. The {Q-Clubs} turn changed nothing in between.

Johnson Holds

Level 15 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

With the board reading {k-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{j-Spades}{3-Clubs} at the turn, Jason Johnson called the all-in bet of his opponent with {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}. He just needed his top pair to hold against {j-Hearts}{q-Hearts} to knock him out of the tournament. The {j-Clubs} brought a whoop of victory from the player with the jack, but Johnson quietly pointed out that he had made a flush.
