Scott Clements Leads Final 11 Heading Into Day 3

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante

The penultimate day of Event #48: $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Low has come to an end after 10 levels of play. The day started with 157 hopefuls vying for an in-the-money finish, which only 117 of them would get. After 10 levels of play on Day 2, 11 remained with their sights set on World Series of Poker gold.

The chip leader at the end of the night was two-time WSOP bracelet winner Scott Clements. Clements bagged up 699,000 to lead the pack, and would be considered an Omaha expert. Both of his two bracelets came in the game — one in limit Omaha hi-low and one in pot-limit Omaha — and then he has a second-place, seventh-place, and ninth-place finish in limit Omaha hi-low, a third-place finish in pot-limit Omaha hi-low, and a fifth-place finish in pot-limit Omaha.

Three-time WSOP gold bracelet winner Jeff Madsen (654,000) finished in second place overall. One of his three bracelets came in last year's Event #35: $3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha, so he knows a thing or two about four-card poker, and then you've got Dylan Wilkerson (552,000) and Tyler Patterson (425,000) rounding out the top four.

And then, of course, you've got Tom Schneider still in the mix, and he boasts quite a record at the WSOP. With four WSOP gold bracelets and 33 cashes at the Series, Schneider will be as tough as any to remove from this tournament as he chases bracelet number five.

Derek Raymond, the fourth gold bracelet winner remaining, will enter the final day with 419,000 in chips. Raymond won the most coveted piece of jewelry in all of poker back in 2009 when he took down the $2,500 Omaha Hi-Low event to the tune of $229,192.

Here is how the final 11 players stack up going into Day 3:

Jared Koppel Eliminated in 12th Place ($15,278)

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante
Jared Koppel
Jared Koppel

With the board showing {8-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Spades}, Jared Koppel and J.R. Flournoy would get it all in and Flournoy was at risk holding {A-Spades}{10-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for a low draw and nut flush draw while Koppel held {Q-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs} for a set of threes. The turn was the {2-Diamonds} giving Flournoy a wheel and the river card, the {5-Spades} changed nothing and Flournoy doubled up to 375,000 while Koppel was left with 30,000.

Koppel would triple that up the very next hand but a few moments later he would limp in from the small blind, Tyler Patterson would make it 36,000 to go from the big blind and Koppel would call. When the flop came {K-Spades}{J-Hearts}{10-Hearts}, Koppel moved all in and was quickly called by Patterson who had flopped a Broadway straight with {A-Spades}{Q-Spades}{9-}{2-}. Koppel had full house outs with his {J-Spades}{10-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} but the turn was the {7-Spades} and the river was the {8-Hearts} and Koppel was eliminated in 12th place for $15,278.

David Schnettler Eliminated in 13th Place ($12,254)

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante
David Schnettler - 13th Place
David Schnettler - 13th Place

Tom Schneider opened to 23,000, David Schnettler raised pot, and Schneider made the call. The two went heads up to a {7-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{4-Clubs} flop and Schnettler led out with all in bet for his last 20,000. Schneider called, putting Schnettler at risk.

Schnettler: {10-Spades}{j-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{4-Spades}
Schneider: {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{5-Spades}

The turn brought the {q-Hearts}, followed by the {9-Diamonds} on the river. Schneider's aces and queens was best and Schnettler hit the rail.

An Li Eliminated in 14th Place ($12,254)

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante
An Li
An Li

An Li opened the action for 30,000 and Philip Sternheimer called out of the big blind. The flop came {A-Spades}{7-Clubs}{3-Spades} and Sternheimer opened for a pot-sized bet which was enough to set Li all in. Li made the call and the two turned their hands over:

Sternheimer: {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} for two pair, aces and threes
Li: {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{2-Spades} for a pair of aces

The turn was the {7-Diamonds} changing nothing as Sternheimer's kicker was better than Li's. The river was the {9-Hearts} and Li would be eliminated in 14th place for $12,254.

Ryan Paluf - 15th Place

Tom Schneider opened to 23,000, Ryan Paulf raised all in, Scott Clements announced pot, and Schneider folded.

Clements: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}
Paluf: {a-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}

The dealer fanned out a {3-Hearts}{3-Spades}{6-Spades}{2-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} board and Clements won both the high and low hands, scooping the pot, and busting Paluf.

Michael Bruyere Eliminated in 16th Place ($9,953)

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante
Michael Bruyere
Michael Bruyere

Michael Bruyere opened for 25,000 and J.R. Flournoy reraised the pot barely having Bruyere covered. The latter made the call and the two were dueling essentially for their tournament lives.

Bruyere held {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{2-Clubs} and Flournoy {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{5-Spades} and the flop came {10-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} giving Bruyer the nut low draw and not much else while Flournoy had top two pair and the nut flush draw. The turn was the {A-Spades} giving Bruyer a pair of aces and now Flournoy had aces and tens with the flush draw. The river was the {J-Diamonds} and Bruyere thought he had moved into the lead with aces and jacks and won the pot before realizing that it was a diamond to give Flournoy the flush. Bruyere was eliminated in 16th place which was good for $9,953.

Jyri Merivirta Eliminated in 17th Place ($9,953)

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante
Jyri Merivirta
Jyri Merivirta

Jyri Merivirta opened the action with a raise to 25,000. It was folded to Philip Sternheimer who made a pot-sized raise. This was enough to set Merivirta all in. He made the call and the two players revealed their hands:

Merivirta: {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{2-Spades}
Sternheimer: {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}{3-Spades}{2-Clubs}

The flop came {9-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{2-Hearts} giving both players a pair of deuces. The turn was the {A-Diamonds} giving both two pair, aces and deuces, with Sternheimer's king kicker giving him the better two pair. The river paired that king kicker with the {K-Diamonds} to give Sternheimer, aces and kings, good enough to knock out Merivirta in 17th place.

Cody Crawford
Cody Crawford

An Li opened to 23,000 and Cody Crawford raised pot. Action folded back around to Li, who himself raised pot, Crawford announced pot again, putting himself all in and at risk, and Li made the call.

Crawford: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{2-Hearts}
Li: {a-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{2-Spades}

The dealer delivered a {j-Hearts}{8-Spades}{9-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} board and with no low pot possibilities, Crawford's ace-king high was best and scooped the massive double up.

Right after Tim Burt was eliminated in 19th place and before the two table redraw could take place, Bradley Ruben was eliminated in 18th place at the hands of Dylan Wilkerson and Jared Koppel.

Wilkerson would take the high end of the pot with a set of sixes and Koppel would take the low end with the nut low.

Tim Burt Eliminated in 19th Place ($8,187)

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante
Timothy Burt
Timothy Burt

Tim Burt and Tyler Patterson exchanged raises until Burt was all in and at risk. When the hands were turned over, it showed that both had similar hands:

Burt: {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{5-Hearts}
Patterson: {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{6-Spades}

It would be the six that would win the pot for Patterson, as the board would come with two of them when it ran out {K-Clubs}{10-Spades}{6-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{2-Clubs}. "That's how I run," said a frustrated Burt, eliminated in 19th place.
