Davis Makes a Hero Call

Level 14 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Shana Davis
Shana Davis

Shana Davis was faced with a decision for much of her chips after she had bet 5,000 on a flop of {2-}{2-}{3-}. Her opponent had shoved over her bet and after a moment, Davis made the call.

Davis: {a-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}
Opponent: {q-}{j-}

Davis' read was correct and after she faded the turn and river — {8-}{8-} — her opponent was eliminated and Davis stacked up her new chips.

Baumer Crippled, Then Bust

Level 14 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

On a flop of {4-Clubs}{9-Spades}{6-Hearts}, Randi Rusnell checked and Melanie Weisner bet out 4,800. Rita Baumer made the call, as did Rusnell. The turn card was the {7-Diamonds} and Rusnell and Weisner checked. Baumer pushed all in and just Rusnell made the call. She turned over {9-Hearts}{9-Spades} for a flopped set and scooped in a huge double up when the river fell harmless, and Rusnell was left with just 4,500 chips.

Two hands later, Rusnell pusher her micro stack all in and Mikiyo Aoki raised to 10,000 from middle position. Debbie Mitchell called to start a side pot and they went to a flop of {7-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}. With just a side pot to bet at, both players checked down the turn {2-Spades} and river {6-Hearts}. Aoki held {j-}{j-}, but Mitchell held {q-}{q-} and scooped in the side pot as well as the main pot when Rusnell threw her hand away to exit the tournament.

Jancevic Doubles Up

Level 14 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Oksana Jancevic pushed her small stack all in from under the gun and Randi Rusnell made the call with her newly-acquired big stack, putting Jancevic at risk.

Jancevik: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Rusnell: {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}

Things were not looking good for the Canadian, but when the flop came down {j-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{10-Clubs}, she had made a straight. She stayed ahead through the {4-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} turn and river and doubled up.

Pat Landis
Pat Landis

With the flop reading {k-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{a-Hearts} and action checked to Patty Landis, she bet out 7,000. Her opponent raised to 14,000 and Landis made the call. The turn was the {7-Clubs} and Landis was checked to again. She pushed in a stack of yellows worth 20,000, enough to put her opponent all in. After a minute of thought, the other player made the call and turned over {a-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}, but it was no match to Landis' {a-Clubs}{10-Spades}, and Landis scored the knockout when the river card was revealed the {k-Spades}.
