Daphne Barr Eliminated in 27th Place ($4,817)

Level 15 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

According to Shana Davis, who won the hand, she opened to 7,000 and Daphne Barr in the small blind, shoved all in for not much more. Davis made the call with {3-Clubs}{4-Clubs} putting Barr at risk. Barr had shoved with {a-}{10-} and when the dealer completed the board, Davis had caught a pair of fours on the flop and Barr was eliminated.

Melanie Weisner Eliminated in 26th Place ($4,817)

Melanie Weisner

Melanie Weisner got it in good with {k-}{k-} against Sherry Dixon's {a-Hearts}{10-Spades}, but an ace in the window suggested what fate she had in store, and she wasn't able to catch up to the paired ace of Dixon. She was eliminted in 26th place and earned $4,817 for her deep run in this event.

Doubles Everywhere

Level 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Shortly after the redraw for the final three tables, we witnessed a whole flurry of double ups. It started when Xuan Liu raised to 5,000 from under the gun and Siriwan Sukmekerd made the call from the big blind. The flop came {10-Spades}{4-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} and Sukmekerd led out for 12,000. Liu then pushed all in, covering Sukmekerd by plenty, and was called. Liu showed {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} and was behind the {j-Hearts}{10-Clubs} of Sukmekerd. The turn was the {3-Clubs} and the river of {j-Diamonds} further solidified Sukmekerd's hand with two pairs. She secured a big double up.

The next double came when Haixia Zhang got it all in preflop with Mikiyo Aoki. Aoki had raised to 5,000 and Zhang pushed all in. Aoki quickly called and had the better hand with {10-Hearts}{10-Spades} to her opponent's {8-Spades}{7-Spades}. The flop fell heavily in Zhang's favour, however. With {9-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{5-Clubs} on the board, Zhang had flopped a straight. The turn and river of {3-Diamonds} and {4-Spades} changed nothing, and Zhang doubled through Aoki.

Shortly after, action was at the turn with the board reading {k-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{j-Hearts}. Shana Davis pushed all in and Charlet Molique made the call. Davis was holding {q-Hearts}{q-Spades}, but Molique had flopped two pairs with {6-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}. Davis had the flush draw, but she couldn't find a heart on the river of {7-Clubs} and doubled up Molique.

Then Davis got it all in with Gwendoline Laurent-Daw preflop. Davis had {a-Clubs}{5-} and Laurent-Daw had the better hand with {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}. The jacks held through the board of {k-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{q-Hearts} and Davis doubled up another player.

Karen Novotny Eliminated in 25th Place ($4,817)

Level 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Persia Bonella opened the action with a bet of 8,500 from middle position and Karen Novotny pushed all in from the button. Bonella quickly announced call, but the blinds still had to act. Mikiyo Aoki was sitting in the big blind and declared her intention to raise and the floor was called to determine what Bonella's options were now that the action was back on her. She was given the option to fold even though she had said she would call the initial all-in raise. Novotny and Aoki were left to see a board.

Novotny: {3-Hearts}{3-Spades}
Aoki: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}

"A three, a three. Come on," Novotny called. The flop was the worst possible for her. The dealer turned over {10-Hearts}{6-Spades}{10-Diamonds} and Aoiki had flopped quads, leaving Novotny drawing dead. She was eliminated in 25th place and earned $4,817.

Gwendoline Laurent-Daw Eliminated in 24th Place ($4,817)

Level 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Elizabeth Montizanti opened from early position and Gwendoline Laurent Daw moved all in from the button. Action folded back around to Montizanti, who made the call putting Laurent-Daw at risk.

Laurent-Daw: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Montizanti: {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

The flop ran out {a-Spades}{3-Spades}{5-Spades}. Laurent-Daw had been out-flopped and was now way behind needing a king to survive. The {5-Hearts} on the turn and {q-Hearts} on the river were no help and Laurent-Daw was sent to the rail.

Sukmekerd Doubles Up

Level 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Heidi Rhodes and Siriwan Sukmekerd got it all in preflop with Sukmekerd holding the best starting hand in hold'em: {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}. Rhodes was needing some help with {k-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} if she wanted to avoid doubling up her opponent, but she couldn't find any on the board of {6-Clubs}{j-Spades}{9-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{4-Clubs}. Sukmekerd secured the double up and commented on how there was no way she was going to slow play those aces. Playing them fast seems to have worked for her.
