One For Talal

Level 3 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

The board read {3-Spades}{K-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} when David Sands bet 57,000 and Talal Shakerchi called.

The river was the {8-Diamonds} and both players checked. Sands showed {K-Spades}{Q-Spades} and mucked when Shakerchi tabled {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}.

Shakerchi raked in a pot and while he's among the smaller stacks there's no need for any crazy moves just yet.

Blind vs. Blind

Level 3 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Action folded to Guy Laliberté in the small blind and he bumped it to 25,000. Tobias Reinkemeier defended from the big blind and the two saw a flop of {2-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{3-Spades}. Laliberté continued for 36,000, Reinkemeier called, and then both players checked the {5-Hearts} turn.

That action repeated itself on the {3-Hearts} river and Laliberté tabled the {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} for jacks and threes. Reinkemeier mucked.

False Hope for Lindgren

Level 3 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Erick Lindgren raised to 20,000 in middle position, Phil Galfond three-bet to 57,000 in the hijack, and Lindgren called.

The dealer fanned {j-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}, both players checked, and the turn was the {q-Clubs}. Lindgren led out for 80,000, Galfond raised to 190,000, and Lindgren called.

The river was the {a-Hearts}, both players quickly checked, and Lindgren showed {a-Spades}{8-Clubs} for a pair of aces. He was out-kicked by Galfond's {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}, who was pushed the pot.

"You had a value bet there," Lindgren told Galfond after the hand.

"Yeahhhhhh," Galfond said, stacking his newfound chips. "I didn't know whether or not I was going to bet."

Phil Ivey snorted with laughter.

"That was a sick needle," Lindgren added. "You gave me false hope with that check."

Checking In On Polk and Cates

Level 3 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Daniel Cates and Doug Polk exchanged pleasantries a little bit ago, and the news caught some attention of some of the other players in the tournament. The most interested table was the one containing Scott Seiver, Antonio Esfandiari, and Dan Smith, which is diagonally adjacent to the one involving Cates and Polk.

Just before the last break, Seiver read the update of the exchange out loud at his table. Now after the players have returned from break, Seiver and Esfandiari poured a little fuel on the fire.

"How are you and Dan doing over there, Doug?" yelled out Esfandiari with a laugh.

"More importantly, how are the mothers doing over there?" yelled Seiver.

Polk laughed a little bit, leaned back in his chair, and said, "Hmm... I'd say... swimmingly."

Esfandiari and Seiver pried a little further, asking Cates and Polk if the exchange between them was serious or if they were actually friends just goofing around. Both Polk and Cates were a little hesitant to state either way, but didn't seem too ready to jump at dismissing the issues they had with one another.

Champ on the Comeback

Level 3 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

We arrived at the table to see Connor Drinan and Brandon Steven check over to Antonio Esfandiari on the button. He led for 38,000 and found a call from just Drinan. The turn brought the {5-Hearts} to the felt and Drinan checked for a second time. Esfandiari cut out a bet of 84,000 and once again Drinan stuck around.

The {Q-Clubs} finished off the board on the river and Drinan checked. Esfandiari bet 173,000 and Drinan thought for a moment before releasing his cards. With this win, Esfandiari's stack has increased to 2.83 million.

Another One For Heinecker

Level 3 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Niklas Heinecker, who's definitely the chip leader when it comes to having orange 1,000 chips, just took down another pot. It was Isaac Haxton who raised under the gun to 25,000 and the action folded to the German pro who three-bet from the small blind to 90,000.

Noah Schwartz tanked for quite a while before making the call and Haxton let go of his hand.

The flop came down {A-Spades}{6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} and Heinecker took down the pot after throwing 105,000 into the middle.
